Revelations

Eight long years had passed and Cesar was still living in that house. He had just turned 16.

During all those years, however, he never stopped doing the training his grandfather used to impose on him.

Although he had not yet understood the usefulness of those trainings, he continued to do them out of fidelity, even nostalgia.

Before Yuusaba showed up at his door, ready to give the shocking news to Cesar, the latter had gone to the nearby village for supplies.

As he walked through those narrow streets, he could not help but remember his grandfather. Although he had never been there with him, he could imagine what it would have been like.

The people around him, recognizing Cesar Olgure's grandson, looked at him strangely, almost rancorously.

The villagers had not forgotten Oldgure and somehow saw a resemblance to Cesar.

"Is he still here? Yes, he's the grandson of that crazy old man... Remember?".

"He still dares to show up here... what a shame, I'm embarrassed for him... ".

Cesar made a habit of it and continued to ignore passers-by.

"Hey you, do you know that what your grandfather did was illegal?" said a boy lying on a wall with his group of friends.

**

Oldgure's stories were very specific and aimed to tell a different reality from the Kormany propaganda.

The world was under a dictatorship, which extended over all eleven nations of the world.

Each nation governed independently, but the Kormany took the reins of dictatorship and censored all attempts to go against them and their history.

**

Cesar did not pay attention, ignoring the boy, who became nervous.

"They should arrest you just for being the nephew of that retarded... ".

Cesar turned and answered.

"Sorry for being raised by Oldgure, professor... ".

"Do you want to play with fire? Boys, did you hear that? The child was offended... " he said to his friends.

Cesar got tired of it and turned to the other side to continue.

The "leader" of that group was about to follow Cesar, but he was blocked by one of his friends.

"Stop, Lauren, let go of that loser... ".

"You are a nothingness and always will be, baby!!" he exclaimed immediately after being blocked by the friend.

Some of the passers-by turned to the boy, not understanding what was happening.

Cesar, meanwhile, had moved away a lot and came to a stage. That was the same stage where Oldgure used to tell his crazy stories to the locals.

Every time he passed by, he used to imagine the scene of his grandfather: Oldgure who, after another story, is taken by force by some guards and driven out of the village. Afterward, Oldgure yells "Sooner or later I'll convince you of everything!!".

It was an imagined situation, but Cesar could hear every time that phrase being shouted from somewhere.

[...]

"He again... " whispered a salesman to one of his employees.

He was standing in front of his fruit stand when from around the corner, he saw Cesar coming.

"Good morning... " he said with a gloomy air, knowing that he would be treated as usual.

After having prepared the bag with everything that Cesar had asked for, he gave it to him and kicked out him without even saying goodbye.

After that, Cesar went to buy other supplies including water, and returned home.

Unexpectedly, on the edge of the front door appeared Yuusaba, who had been sitting there waiting for Cesar's return.

"Cesar!! Here you are... I've been waiting for you for at least a quarter of an hour!! I was almost worried haha... ".

Over the years, Yuusaba had been visiting him several times to make sure he was okay. But that day, he had news in store for him that would change his fate forever.

"Yuusaba, why all this desire to see me today?".

"Cesar, come inside and I'll explain everything... ".

He slammed the door open and entered, making way for Cesar too, who began to worry about Yuusaba's attitude. He seemed more serious than usual and Cesar was afraid of the news that he would tell him.

"Sit down, Cesar... " he said, dragging back the chair on which he would sit.

"Yuusaba, you're too strange today... is there anything serious that you have to tell me?".

"I think it's a serious one... " he said, rubbing his head.

"How can I begin... Behold... " he said thoughtfully.

Cesar, meanwhile, seemed to be getting impatient with Yuusaba's behavior.

"Cesar... what did your grandfather tell you in the years he lived here with you... About powers?".

"Powers?" asked Cesar, puzzled.

"I figured your grandfather hadn't told you yet... He had a strange protocol to follow with some people... I never understood either... He never talked to me about it in-depth... ".

"What are these powers, Yuusaba??".

"Cesar... In this world live eighty million people... But only a small percentage of them have been lucky enough to be born with a power... These powers, over time, have been divided into two categories... 'Common powers', that is all those classical powers, such as the power of fire, the power of water... Then there are the 'Intermediate powers', it's about combined powers, this happens when a person possesses a power originating from the union of fire and wind, for example, so from the union of two common powers... ".

"Mhh... " said Cesar, rather confused.

"Well... You, Cesar, are one of the few to possess one of these powers... Your grandfather told me about it, it seems to be a mixed power between fire and lava... Although he was too vague when he explained it to me, I don't know why... ".

"Why didn't you tell me before?? Why I was in the dark about everything??".

"Your grandfather, when he was still alive, didn't want you to know about it because of that protocol I told you about before... In addition, we were afraid, even I, that you, knowing about your power, could do strange things, such as entering the castle in the state in which you were before... But that's not what I meant to say, Cesar... ".

Yuusaba pulled out of his pocket a small circular object, similar to a thermometer. There was a glass covering a strange piece of paper on which a pie chart was drawn. It was divided into three colored sections: Blue, which is "Normal"... Orange, which is "Warning" and Red, which is "Danger". Above this graph was a small pointer that could be moved in each of these areas.

"Your grandfather gave me this object some time ago... I don't know what kind of devilry it is... Do not ask me how it is possible to create such an object... But it's to monitor your power... When it detects strange pressures inside your body, the pointer moves slightly towards the orange zone, that of 'Warning'... ".

Cesar looked at the pointer of that strange object, which was in the orange zone at the time.

"Cesar... yesterday this pointer was on red... I was worried... ".

"Ahh... " exclaimed Cesar concerned.

"In the next few days, you must go to a friend of your grandfather, Tevon... Oldgure told me that he is the person to keep under control your power... ".

"But... And where is this Tevon?".

Yuusaba was silent for a moment.

"I... I don't know... Your grandfather told me how he lost track of Tevon over time and didn't know where he is now... ".

Cesar began to worry about the words of Yuusaba, who tried to calm him down.

"Cesar, it's not a problem today and not even tomorrow... We have enough time... We'll find a way to find Tevon, all right??" he said, before leaving.

Just before he left the house, he was stopped by Cesar's voice.

"Yuusaba!! But why... Why my grandfather, and now you... Tell me to stay away from that castle?? Why my grandfather entered it?? What did they do to him??".

Yuusaba sighed and replied.

"Cesar, I don't know what happened to your Grandfather... But you must stay away from that castle... It is guarded by many guards and the government of this nation, as well as the Kormany, prohibits the population entry into each castles... ".

Yuusaba left and Cesar stood still. He turned and looked out the living room window. There it was, standing out among the buildings of the nearby village.

He was curious to find out what was inside that castle and Yuusaba's words only increased his curiosity.

"Probably... that castle could be the starting point to reach it... Reach... The Vèiger... Maybe my grandfather was right... ".

Until then he thought that the Vèiger was just an invention of his grandfather, however, after a few years after his death, Cesar began to be interested in this legendary place and somehow wanted to carry out the will of his grandfather, who wanted to make Cesar reach the Vèiger.
