A twisted curiosity gripped him. The power to warp space was one thing, but Kaguya had other abilities, too—like reading people's thoughts and memories. He could use this portal to spy on someone's mind, to dig deep into their subconscious. It was a power far beyond anything a normal human could dream of.
He hesitated. This was dangerous territory—violating someone's privacy, invading their deepest thoughts. But then again, he wasn't exactly normal anymore. If he had this kind of power, didn't he have the responsibility to learn how it worked?
"I have to know," Steven whispered. "What if I need to use it one day?"
Without further hesitation, he closed his eyes and focused, reaching out with his mind toward the person on the other side of the portal. His eyes buzzed with energy as he tapped into the Byakugan's powers.
Suddenly, images flooded his mind. His neighbor—Fred, a college student—was sitting in his room, mindlessly scrolling through his phone. Steven could hear his thoughts, disjointed and casual. "Ugh, gotta finish that project for class tomorrow… but maybe I'll watch one more episode first…."
Steven felt like he was swimming through Fred's consciousness, sifting through memories and thoughts like flipping through the pages of a book. He saw fragments of Steve's childhood, awkward teenage years, embarrassing moments—everything. The access was total, immediate, and invasive.
"What the hell am I doing?!" Steven thought, snapping himself out of the connection. He let go of the mental link and staggered back, the portal still swirling quietly in front of him.
His heart raced, guilt washing over him. He had just invaded someone's mind, peeled back their thoughts like it was nothing. And worse—he could have kept going. The feeling of power was intoxicating.
He closed the portal with a flick of his wrist, the black portal collapsing in on itself. Silence fell over the room once more.
"What am I doing?" Steven whispered, his hands trembling. "I can't just... read people's minds. rigth ? I mean i can but it's wrong."
The ethical dilemma weighed heavily on him. If he had the power to read anyone's thoughts, to understand their deepest secrets, did that mean he should? Where would he draw the line? He thought about how easy it had been—how natural it had felt. He had seen into Steve's mind without any resistance, like he had the key to unlock people's souls.
Trying to shake off the unsettling experience, Steven turned his thoughts back to the more practical question: Could he use jutsu? He knew Kaguya had powers that transcended standard ninja, she wielded Shinjutsu and had a Kekkei Mora, but surely, if he had her chakra, he could tap into more than just her badic abilities.
"Alright, let's see if I can pull off some basic stuff first," Steven muttered, holding his hands out in front of him. He tried to focus on forming chakra, just like in the anime. The energy within him felt wild, unrefined—but it was there. He molded it, shaping it with his will.
He tried to mimic the hand signs he remembered from Naruto. "Tiger, Horse, Snake, Ox... right?"
He performed the sequence and concentrated. But nothing happened.
Disappointed he instead decided to try a jutsu that didnt require Handsigns.
He tried again, this time focusing on creating something simple—a small ball of energy, like the beginnings of a Rasengan. He remembered how Naruto would channel chakra into his hand, spinning it into a compact sphere. Steven focused, imagining the energy swirling in his palm.
The chakra gathered, but it was unstable. Instead of forming a sphere, the energy crackled and fizzed violently. Steven gritted his teeth, trying to control it, but the power felt like trying to hold lightning in his hands.
Boom!
The energy exploded outward, knocking him back into the wall. He groaned, rubbing his head as smoke filled the room.
"Okay... maybe I'm not ready for the Rasengan yet."
