Chapter 12 Getting Started
Ronan's mind was as calm as a mirror, and a thin strand of mental energy lingering in his mind was separated, like an infusion catheter, connecting to the carving knife in his hand.
As the tip of the carving knife made a "rustling" sound on the blank rune stone, this mental power was slowly injected into the rune grooves that appeared along with the universal powder preparation liquid.
Everything is going well.
Seeing that the work was about to be completed, Ronan felt a little happy that victory was in sight, and his mind could not help but relax. The hand holding the carving knife trembled slightly, and the trajectory of the carving knife deviated.
"Crack--"
A crack appeared on the rune stone in his hand, and the entire rune stone was scrapped.
"oops"
Ronan shouted in annoyance, wishing he could slap himself a few times.
"Almost, just a little bit!"
If the last failure was at 97%, this time it is 99%.
The final finishing touch was just wasted.
"Champagne at halftime, getting carried away"
Ronan rubbed his brows, sighed, sat down on the small bed helplessly, and began to meditate.
As his proficiency in [Basic Meditation] increased by one again and his lost mental strength was restored, Ronan took a sip of water and continued to work hard.
Because of the lesson from last time, Ronan was extra cautious this time.
The effect of the character panel is perfectly brought out, and it goes smoothly all the way to the end.
The last cut was a beautiful finishing touch. A bright light flashed across the surface of the rune stone engraved with the complete [Clean] rune, and a faint mysterious aura emanated from it.
When true success came, Ronan was not so excited. He felt more relaxed, satisfied, and a little happy that he finally got what he wanted after working so hard for so long.
After continuing to meditate and then imprint
for an hour, Ronan, with a tired face, stood in the cabin. With the few rays of sunlight shining in from outside, he carefully looked at the two finished rune stones in his hands.
Bring up the panel, and there is now some more content on the character panel.
[Name: Ronan Damien]
Age: 16
[Talent: No attribute affinity]
[Strength: Level 2 Wizard Apprentice (14%)]
[Skill: Basic Meditation (Proficiency 158/200)
Energy Missile (Mastery 339/400)
Charged Weapons (68/100 for beginners)
Rune Marking - Cleansing (Entry 2/100)]
I have completely mastered the engraving of the [Clean] rune and have reached 2 points of proficiency.
Maybe it was because of the accumulation, even the strength progress increased by 1%, which can be considered a double happiness.
"The price of the [Clean] rune is one magic stone, and two are two magic stones."
Ronan spent a total of sixty-nine magic stone fragments on purchasing materials. After deducting the cost, he made a net profit of thirty-one magic stone fragments per magic stone.
Of course, this is not the most important thing.
The important thing is that from now on, Ronan will have a stable source of income and will no longer be in the previous state of living off his savings and spending less and less.
"It's not easy."
Ronan sat down on the chair, completely relaxed, not wanting to think about anything and not wanting to do anything.
Don't be fooled by his expression as if nothing happened. God knows how much psychological pressure he has been under during this month.
Ronan put all his wealth at the risk of rune engraving.
Although his total assets were not much, it was a big gamble for him.
If he fails, Ronan will really have to beg for food.
Fortunately, it was successful.
The result was a little better than Ronan expected. Two out of the twenty blank rune stones were successfully used. Now the only problem he had to consider was how to sell the two [Cleansing] runes on hand and exchange them for magic stones.
"That's right!"
Ronan suddenly remembered something.
The stall owner who sold him blank rune stones once said shamelessly that as long as he could successfully engrave a rune, he would give him ten bags of blank rune stones for free.
Ronan stood up immediately and wanted to rush to the market to slap the two [Cleaning] runes in front of the stall owner.
But after thinking it over carefully,
he sat down again.
It's better not to pretend like this.
Ronan didn't know how many blank rune stones it would take for someone to learn rune engraving on their own, from a complete novice to an entry level, but it was definitely far more than twenty.
If he behaves too evilly, who knows if the secret of the panel will be leaked. What if he is targeted by someone with ulterior motives, captured, locked up in a small dark room, and forced to work day and night to carve runes? What should he do?
After all, he is just a little second-level wizard apprentice now.
Moreover, the stall owner only mentioned the matter of the ten bags of blank rune stones verbally at the beginning. There was no notarization and no contract was signed. He could change his mind at any time. Maybe Ronan was the only one who was stupid enough to take this matter seriously.
After much thought, Ronan decided not to take advantage of this opportunity.
"We still have to go to the market. There are no blank rune stones left."
Ronan thought about it, meditated for a while, looked at the sky, and hurriedly left home with the two rune stones.
In the busy wizard market, Ronan, dressed in a long robe, walked naturally on the street.
Under his robe, he held two [Cleansing] rune stones tightly in his hands, his palms sweating.
Ronan was afraid of being robbed. He was not so nervous the last time he came with the money bag.
"Should I also find a place to set up a stall?"
Ronan looked around, and was a little worried that it was too shabby for him to only sell two [Cleaning] runes at his stall.
If I had known earlier, I would have brought the dried meat that was not sold last time.
Ronan turned around and realized that he was overthinking.
He can't set up this stall just because he wants to.
You have to pay to set up a stall in the market. Even if the location is the worst, you have to pay five magic stone fragments as the stall fee for a day.
Ronan only had one magic stone particle in his body and couldn't even afford the cheapest rent, so he had to give up the idea in disappointment.
After wandering around for a while, it was getting dark, and Ronan realized that if he wanted to sell the two runes, it seemed that he could only go back to the stall owner who sold rune stones and laughed at him.
"Did you really carve this yourself?"
The stall owner in front of him opened his mouth slightly and looked at Ronan in disbelief.
"Um."
Ronan nodded.
"Damn it!"
The stall owner cursed, and suddenly seemed to realize something, and sneered, "Boy, you must have wasted more than fifteen blank runes, right?"
Ronan avoided the other party's aggressive gaze and denied it out of guilt, "No, no, it's just the fifteen dollars you took."
"Do you think I'm stupid?"
The stall owner rolled his eyes. "I've been in Hoddam for so long, and I've never heard of a rune master who could successfully get started with a hundred blank rune stones! Tell me, how many did it cost?"
Ronan was like a child who was ashamed and embarrassed after his lie was exposed. He looked a little embarrassed and after struggling for a long time, he lowered his head dejectedly and chose to tell the truth.
"Okay. I admit it.
I used almost two hundred blank rune stones before I succeeded."
"That's more like it."
Seeing the slightly unnatural look on the stall owner's face, Ronan regretted that he had reported a lower quantity.
