Chapter 12: Shadows of Betrayal

With Elana's defeat, the war was nearing its climax, but Karcel could feel a growing unease. The rogue gods were weakening, but something darker was stirring beneath the surface, something she couldn't quite grasp.

As they regrouped, Kalos approached her, his face grim. "There's something you need to know," he said. "The mortals have been talking. They believe there's a traitor among us."

Karcel frowned. "A traitor?"

Kalos nodded. "There's been strange activity in the camps. Supplies going missing, orders being countered. Someone is working against us from within."

Rael overheard their conversation and joined them. "If there's a traitor, we need to find them before they do any more damage."

Karcel's mind raced. The rogue gods had always been unpredictable, but they had never worked from within. Could one of her own allies have been corrupted? The thought sent a chill down her spine.

"We'll keep an eye on the camps," Karcel said. "But we can't let this distract us from the war. The remaining gods are still out there, and they won't wait for us to figure this out."

But as they prepared for the next battle, Karcel couldn't shake the feeling that something—or someone—was watching them from the shadows.
