EDWINA
Beep. Beep. Beep.
That was the sound I woke up to.
The rhythmic beep of a machine pulsed in my ears and it slowly dragged me out of the thick fog of unconsciousness.
My head was aching so bad, it felt as though someone was drilling holes into my skull. Straining against the light in the room, I tried to move, but my body felt strange. Heavy. Like it belonged to someone else.
A sharp pain shot through my arm and I gasped, the feeling too sudden for me to comprehend.
My eyelids fluttered open. The harsh, white light made me squint, and it took me a few blinks to get used to the sharp brightness of the room.
Looking around, I realised that I was in a white room. The walls and ceiling were bare white, devoid of any decoration or splash of colour.
Where was I? The room was unfamiliar, and my fave creased into a frown.
I took a deep breath, and the sudden, sterile and sharp smell of antiseptic wafted into my nose.
