CHAPTER 108

CHARLOTTE 

The first thing I felt was the pounding in my head. It was as though a thousand hammers were beating my skull all at the same time.

I groaned as my eyelids fluttered open, but the light pouring through the window only made my headache worse. 

Another groan escaped through my lips as I pulled the covers over my head, hoping for some relief.

But there was no escaping it. There was no escape from the headache, or from the weight of the night before. 

 A hollow emptiness filled my chest. My heart was aching like never before as events of last night floated into my brain.

I started to piece together the fragments of what happened yesterday. 

A smile on my face as I made my way to my fiancé's office, the way his face had looked when I opened the door and caught him in the act.
