CHAPTER 132

KIERAN

Ever had your entire existence upended, ripped away from you with just one sentence?

I just did.

In an instant, my world—my life, everything—exploded into nothingness.

My entire life blew to flames right in my face.

I stood before Edwina, paralyzed, frozen to a spot and unable to move. My legs had completely deserted me, abandoned the rest of my body and I was left rooted to one spot.

I stared, my jaw wide open. My chest heaved with disbelief as I gasped for air.

A vise tightened around my chest, so tight that it felt like my ribs were about to crack under the pressure. It threatened to squeeze life out of me.

I couldn't breathe. The air suddenly became non existent, as it all of it had been sucked out of my office.

My lungs seemed to have stopped functioning altogether too. My breaths came out in ragged, jagged, sharp and desperate gasps, each one twisting painfully into my heart.
