Of all the things I could say, of all the things I could have said, I couldn't believe that was what settled for. 

What happened to confronting her and asking how it happened? What happened to asking why the hell she was telling me that piece of devastating information?

With just one sentence, Ciara had ruined the semblance of peace I was scraping together.

I had a very shitty day at work and cooking was the only thing I thought about, the only activity that could help me de-stress. 

But then Ciara had walked in, her expression morphing into guilt the moment our eyes met. 

I had originally thought she looked that way because she had realised that what she did was wrong, and she was willing to apologise.

But then she had opened her mouth to tell me that Marcus kissed her.

A kiss. On the lips.
