Chapter 33: Qiu Liyao Seeks an Audience with Lord Sheng

Taking several deep breaths, Qiu Yizhen recalled her father's words to help steady herself. "What do you want from me, Jian Yiling?" she said, desperately trying to keep her anger in check and avoid acting impulsively.

"I assure you, the original video won't be released if we both keep our distance," Jian Yiling replied matter-of-factly.

"Is this a threat?" Qiu Yizhen's disbelief was palpable. When had she ever been threatened like this?

Jian Yiling simply looked at her in silence, which made Qiu Yizhen's frustration boil. The tension in the air was so thick that it felt as if Qiu Yizhen might pounce on Jian Yiling at any moment. Given Qiu Yizhen's size and strength, it was clear that Jian Yiling was no match for her in a physical confrontation.

The onlookers could sense the storm brewing between the two girls, particularly Qiu Yizhen, whose facial muscles twitched with barely contained rage. Finally, she spoke through clenched teeth, "Fine! You win this round!"

She realized that Jian Yiling's threat was serious; the consequences of the unedited video going public were far beyond what she could handle. With the answer she sought now in hand, Jian Yiling merely nodded slightly and turned to leave the classroom.

As she walked out at a leisurely pace, the entire class watched in awe. There was an unexpected coolness about her; she was the first person to have the audacity to stand up to the notorious campus bully, Qiu Yizhen.

Later that evening, Qiu Liyao made his way to meet with Yu Simiao, the chairman of Qiyue Group. Their friendship spanned over a decade, and tonight he was hoping Yu Simiao could help him establish a connection with a powerful figure who had recently arrived from Beijing.

This important individual was currently staying at the Yu family residence. The relationship between Yu Xi, Yu Simiao's son, and a prominent figure from the Zhai family provided Qiu Liyao with the perfect opportunity to approach this influential character.

To ensure everything went smoothly, Qiu Liyao had arranged for some generous gifts to be presented. After a lengthy discussion, Yu Simiao finally agreed to allow him to visit the Yu family's old villa that evening.

The old villa of the Yu family was right next to the Jian family's ancestral home, making it a convenient location, as these two houses were the only ones in the vicinity. Upon meeting Yu Simiao, Qiu Liyao greeted him with a wide smile. "I truly appreciate your help with this matter."

Yu Simiao, now in his middle age, had gained some weight but retained a dignified presence, with sharp features and a keen look in his eyes that hinted at his success in the business world. He shook his head slightly, a hint of caution in his voice. "Don't thank me just yet. I'll take you to my family's old residence, but whether you get to meet him depends on your own capabilities."

"I understand," Qiu Liyao responded cheerfully, still feeling optimistic.

In his mind, he thought, Although this man has an impressive background, he's still just a rich playboy interested in pleasures and entertainment. How difficult can it be to deal with someone like that? He believed he had plenty of experience in handling such spoiled individuals.

Noticing the overconfidence in Qiu Liyao's expression, Yu Simiao shook his head in resignation. He knew that Qiu Liyao underestimated the complexity of this character's background. After all, anyone connected to the Zhai family was bound to have their own layers. While rumors painted this newcomer as a playboy, Yu Simiao had seen enough in recent days to understand that he was not someone to be trifled with.

"He's in the entertainment room on the first floor, playing pool with my son," Yu Simiao informed Qiu Liyao as he guided him through the house.

They stopped at the door of the entertainment room, where a variety of recreational facilities were set up. Through the open door, they could see a pool table surrounded by several onlookers. Two young men were engaged in a game, and a row of bodyguards in black suits stood watch nearby.

Qiu Liyao's heart raced. He adjusted his tie and prepared himself for the encounter ahead. This was an opportunity he couldn't afford to waste, and he was determined to make a good impression on the influential figure whose reputation preceded him.

With a deep breath, he stepped forward, ready to navigate this delicate meeting that could either elevate his standing or lead to his downfall.
