Chapter 90: Playing Games with Sheng Ye (Part 3)

Yu Xi pondered their circumstances. Although Jian Yiling didn't seem capable of contributing much, her account would help lower their team's overall ranking, making it easier for them to match against less formidable opponents. He thought to himself that while he might not be exceptionally skilled, he could still manage to hold his own at his current rank. The rest would be up to Zhai Yunsheng, who had an impressive track record in the game. With this combination, Yu Xi felt optimistic about their chances of climbing the ranks.

Despite his musings, Jian Yiling remained silent, putting on her headphones and preparing to dive into the game. Once matchmaking was successful, the game officially commenced.

At the very beginning, Jian Yiling and Zhai Yunsheng charged ahead together, brimming with enthusiasm. "Yiling, stick close to me! Don't follow Sheng Ye over there; it's too dangerous!" Yu Xi couldn't help but shout, urging Jian Yiling to stay with him. He was exasperated at Zhai Yunsheng's reckless approach, especially considering they had a girl on their team. With this kind of aggressive gameplay,he thought, Sheng Ye would never find a girlfriend and would likely end up alone.

Just as Yu Xi was lost in his thoughts, he suddenly noticed the team's kill count increase by one. To his astonishment, the killer was none other than Jian Yiling! And it was a headshot!

Yu Xi blinked in disbelief, narrowing his eyes to focus on the screen. He confirmed that it was indeed his teammate, J10, who had secured the kill. "Wait, what? Yiling actually took down a bug?"

His surprise didn't last long. Almost immediately, another kill notification popped up in the upper right corner of the screen: Your teammate ZYS has scored a headshot with the 98K sniper rifle on a bug, earning 60 points.

Ten seconds later, yet another notification appeared: Your teammate J10 has used the M416 assault rifle to secure a headshot on a bug, earning 60 points.

Yu Xi was flabbergasted. The first kill could be chalked up to luck, a fortunate accident. But what about the second one? It was impossible to believe she could get two headshots in a row purely by chance, especially since the second was at medium range!

As the game progressed, Yu Xi watched in awe as his two teammates continued to rack up kills—one after another. They were outpacing every other player, claiming the first and second spots on the leaderboard. Sometimes Jian Yiling was on top, while other times Zhai Yunsheng took the lead.

Their team's score soared, placing them well ahead of the second-ranked team. Throughout the entire match, Yu Xi found himself doing absolutely nothing. He hardly had time to see even a single bug, because any bug that dared to venture near them would be mercilessly eliminated by either Jian Yiling or Zhai Yunsheng within five seconds.

There were even instances where both teammates shot at the same bug simultaneously. For the first time, Yu Xi felt that the bugs in the game were incredibly "weak and helpless." In his own previous experiences, these creatures had been ferocious and relentless, easily overwhelming him at every turn.

The game wrapped up in just fifteen minutes, and before long, the next match was underway. The second game mirrored the first, with Yu Xi coasting through while contributing little. He hardly fired his weapon at all, spending the whole time just wandering around and pondering life.

He couldn't help but think about Zhai Yunsheng, who was widely known to have a weak heart and couldn't handle too much excitement. Yet, to his knowledge, nothing in their gaming sessions had ever genuinely thrilled Sheng Ye.

People might go racing, finding it exhilarating; Zhai Yunsheng remained utterly calm. Others would watch horror films and jump out of their seats; Zhai Yunsheng would stay unfazed. Even during intense horror games that would send most players' hearts racing, Zhai Yunsheng appeared entirely composed.

His heart rate didn't seem to increase at all; it remained astonishingly stable! This left Yu Xi frequently questioning life itself. Today, he found himself faced with yet another puzzling individual—Jian Yiling.

She had started as a novice but was quickly proving to be an unexpected powerhouse in their games. Despite her initial hesitations, she was out here racking up headshots like a pro. As Yu Xi witnessed her remarkable performance, he couldn't help but feel a mixture of admiration and disbelief. Could someone seemingly so unassuming really be such a gaming prodigy?

As the game continued, Yu Xi found himself drawn into the unexpected dynamics of their team, marveling at the surprising skills of his teammates while grappling with his own doubts. With each passing moment, it became clearer that this gaming adventure was about more than just points; it was a journey into friendship, confidence, and self-discovery.

Yu Xi realized that perhaps the true thrill of gaming didn't just come from high scores and victories, but from the connections and experiences shared with others along the way. The camaraderie they built during these virtual battles was just as rewarding as any trophy or achievement.
