Chapter 111: They Must Pay the Price

After returning upstairs, Jian Yuncheng sat at his desk and turned on his computer. He pulled up the surveillance footage from the cameras positioned at the entrance of the family home. Though he had failed to retrieve the footage from the Jiayunshan Hotel, the surveillance at his own house remained intact.

He accessed the recordings from the day before his birthday, finding the moment when Jian Yiling had delivered her gift. Then, he fast-forwarded to the following night, looking for any sign of Mo Shiyun.

Sure enough, he found her. She was clearly trying to avoid being captured by the cameras. It was obvious that she knew there were surveillance cameras at the front of the house, so she deliberately chose a spot she thought was outside their view.

However, what she didn't know was that the Jian family's surveillance system consisted of two kinds of cameras: the visible ones, which were easy to spot, and the hidden cameras, strategically placed to cover blind spots. While most people might try to tamper with or avoid the obvious cameras, the hidden ones remained untouched.

Jian Yuncheng had personally overseen the installation of these hidden cameras during his last visit home, ensuring there was an added layer of security. As the head of a tech company, he always thought several steps ahead when it came to security matters. What he hadn't anticipated, though, was that the first person caught by these measures wouldn't be an outsider—it would be someone who had been living under their roof all along.

And sure enough, there it was—the footage showing Mo Shiyun herself discarding the gift bag in the bushes.

Jian Yuncheng's eyes grew colder as he watched the footage. There was no mistaking her actions now.

He then turned his attention to another file on his computer—an audio recording of the earlier conversation between Jian Yunnao and Mo Shiyun. Ever since learning that Mo Shiyun's mother, Aunt Mo, might have been influencing Jian Yunnao with ideas that could disrupt the peace in their household, Jian Yuncheng had installed a listening device on Jian Yunnao's phone. He had been monitoring his brother's interactions, and as a result, he had overheard the entire conversation between Jian Yunnao and Mo Shiyun earlier that day.

Before approaching them outside, Jian Yuncheng had been quietly listening to their conversation through his earpiece.

Now, comparing the audio of their conversation with the footage of Mo Shiyun throwing away the gift bag, the duplicity of it all was almost laughable.

With a dark expression, Jian Yuncheng picked up his phone and dialed a number. As soon as the call connected, he spoke without any preamble.

"I need you to find someone for me."

On the other end of the line, the man sounded surprised but intrigued. "Oh? Cheng Shao, you've been asking me to find people a lot lately. What's going on?"

"Are you complaining?" Jian Yuncheng's tone was sharp, leaving no room for debate.

"No, no complaints at all! Just give me the details. Whoever you need, if they've got any traceable record, I'll dig them up in no time," the man replied hastily.

"I need information on Mo Huiqin's ex-husband."

There was a brief pause on the other end before the man exclaimed, "Wait, the housekeeper? What's going on with her? Why the sudden interest in her background?"

"She and her daughter have been stirring up trouble in my family, trying to damage our relationships. They need to pay the price for that," Jian Yuncheng replied coldly.

Initially, Jian Yuncheng hadn't been completely certain that Aunt Mo and her daughter had ulterior motives. Claiming that Jian Yiling's gift was theirs could have been a misunderstanding. However, after today's events, it was clear that their actions were calculated and deliberate. Given this, Jian Yuncheng saw no reason to show mercy.

"Got it. I'll track the guy down for you as soon as possible," the man said. "But Cheng Shao, why don't you just fire the housekeeper now? Save yourself the headache of having her around."

Jian Yuncheng's voice was calm but chilling as he responded, "I want to give them a chance to perform right under my nose."

On the other end of the line, the man shuddered involuntarily. He knew all too well what that meant. Cheng Shao wasn't one to let things slide. If anything, this meant the worst was yet to come for Aunt Mo and her daughter.

"Understood. I'll get on it right away," the man said, his voice more subdued now.

After ending the call, Jian Yuncheng summoned Aunt An, the long-time family housekeeper. He gave her detailed instructions on how to handle the situation going forward.

Aunt An, ever sharp and discreet, understood immediately. "Got it, Young Master. I'll take care of everything," she replied, leaving the room to carry out his orders.

Jian Yuncheng remained at his desk, his mind calculating his next steps. The game was already in motion, and he intended to make sure those who dared disrupt his family paid for it dearly. He wouldn't let this pass—not when the peace of his home was at stake.
