"Looks like you've got plenty of energy to spare. Even with all your Fatui responsibilities, you still find time to train," Gu Sanqiu remarked, spinning his spear as wind and fire elements coalesced at its tip, forming the shape of a mighty eagle ready to soar. The conjured beast squared off against Tartaglia's elemental whale.
"Bring it on!"
Clang!
The tips of their spears collided, and the eagle and whale shot out from their weapons simultaneously, engaging in a ferocious aerial battle.
"Your whale can fly now? Is that progress?"
Gu Sanqiu twisted his wrist, his spear slithering like a serpent and pressing down on Tartaglia's weapon before thrusting toward his chest.
"It sure is!"
Tartaglia grinned with exhilaration, gripping his spear tightly. He sidestepped, using his momentum to deflect Gu Sanqiu's spear into the ground. Tartaglia's own spear struck deep into the earth from the force.
"Again!"
With a loud shout, Tartaglia used the embedded spear as leverage, vaulting upward. His right leg, crackling with Electro energy, swung violently toward Gu Sanqiu.
"Unyielding Fortress."
Geo chains twisted together, forming a barrier that absorbed the powerful kick. The shield flashed briefly before shattering into purple shards under the impact of their clash.
"This time, I'm breaking through that turtle shell of yours!"
Up above, the elemental whale let out a thunderous roar, absorbing an immense amount of Hydro energy. Its form swelled before launching a torrent of pressurized water at Gu Sanqiu.
Screee!
The eagle, seemingly enraged, absorbed wind and fire elements from the surroundings, firing a concentrated elemental beam at the distracted whale.
"Child's play."
Gu Sanqiu glanced at the incoming water torrent and lightly stomped his foot.
"Earthshaking Rampart!"
Massive Geo spires erupted from the ground, blocking the torrent and simultaneously deflecting Tartaglia's follow-up punch to the side.
"Break!"
What happened next caught Gu Sanqiu off guard. Tartaglia dissipated his stored Electro energy and merged his entire body into the whale's water torrent. Harnessing the overwhelming force of Hydro, he smashed through the Geo spire and landed a direct hit on Gu Sanqiu.
The shield shattered instantly. Gu Sanqiu raised an eyebrow as he deflected Tartaglia's advance with his spear, then glanced down at the punch mark left on his chest.
That punch not only broke the shield but also dealt damage.
"I take back what I said earlier. That's not just a little progress—you've improved a lot."
Dark crimson flames flickered as Gu Sanqiu calmly dispelled the lingering Hydro energy from his chest.
"And it even disrupts elemental energy flow? Have you been spending all your time reading lately?"
Tartaglia caught his breath, casting a glance at the eagle overhead. It had defeated the whale and now radiated intense heat above him. He spat on the ground in frustration.
"Tch, you Geo Vision types are such a pain. Just that shield of yours is enough to drive people insane."
"Right back at you. Breaking through my shield like that—seems you've got your Hydro Vision completely figured out."
Water may seem light and fluid, but to Tartaglia, the essence of his attack was different. His punch embodied the boundless depths of the ocean, like a sealed world hidden beneath its surface, heavy and overwhelming.
The shattered shield had surprised Gu Sanqiu initially, but thinking about it, the reasoning behind it made sense.
"I've shown you all the progress I've made lately. Isn't it time you showed me what you've got?"
Hydro energy swirled around Tartaglia as he healed some of his injuries.
"Aside from exchanging a few blows and testing techniques, all you've been doing is defending. Can't you take the initiative for once?"
"I'm giving you a chance to test your new moves. From the looks of it, you've clearly gained some insights."
"I have. For that, I should thank you."
Tartaglia grinned. "Now, let's keep going!"
The eagle above spat flames, the fiery gust turning Tartaglia's surroundings into a sea of fire.
After a brief explosion, Tartaglia emerged from the inferno, dual daggers in hand. Pushing his Delusion to its limit, he channeled Electro energy to dash straight through the flames.
Gu Sanqiu smirked. "Wouldn't Hydro have worked better?"
Tartaglia laughed as he aimed his dagger at Gu Sanqiu's throat. He wasn't an idiot. Using Hydro against the flames would have led to an elemental tug-of-war, depleting his energy.
And given that Gu Sanqiu had created the sea of fire, the terrain advantage wasn't in Tartaglia's favor. Over time, he would inevitably lose.
The Delusion, however, allowed him to break through with minimal cost—a far better solution.
"This new technique is something I came up with recently. Let's see how it works on you."
Using Earthquake Scripture as a foundation, enhanced by the Delusion's power, and inspired by volcanic eruptions:
"Scorched Earth: Inferno Fury!"
The eagle screeched, releasing a solar-like burst of light. The entire Fatui camp was engulfed in the heat as every drop of Hydro energy evaporated. Red-hot pillars of fire erupted from the ground, engulfing Tartaglia in a fiery inferno.
"Damn it!"
Tartaglia cursed, a flash of blue light escaping from the center of the flames.
"Stop! Are you trying to kill me, you bastard?!"
Gu Sanqiu waved his hand, dispersing the eagle and reabsorbing the flames with his Delusion. Tartaglia collapsed onto the ground, gasping for air.
"I think I finally understand why you've been on the defensive this whole time."
Tartaglia looked up at Gu Sanqiu. "You sneaky bastard. That bird was the core of your attack. You've been controlling it this entire time!"
"Hm, you noticed?"
Gu Sanqiu pulled out two handkerchiefs, tossing one to Tartaglia.
"No kidding. After eating that attack, if I didn't figure it out, I'd have no business fighting anymore."
Tartaglia glared at the inherited Geo Vision on Gu Sanqiu's waist. "Those Geo shields of yours are unfair. Without it, your move wouldn't have had such overwhelming power."
"Also, if not for the flames on your body, that punch earlier would've done serious damage. I'm starting to regret helping you send that message to the Doctor."
Tartaglia slumped in frustration. His signature technique, whether delivered with fists or weapons, emphasized immense power. The added effect of disrupting elemental energy flow was supposed to be its key advantage. But Gu Sanqiu's Delusion had completely countered it.
"Elemental reactions, you know how it works. If your Delusion weren't Electro and your Vision weren't Hydro, you wouldn't have been able to brute-force your way through the flames."
Gu Sanqiu shrugged. "You probably used internalized Hydro to protect your body, then coated yourself in Electro externally. The resulting Overloaded reaction carved out a gap in the flames. My plan was to trap you in there and let you experience an oxygen shortage."
"But with your skill level, I figured you wouldn't suffocate anyway."
"So," Tartaglia asked, "was that last move your latest ultimate technique? Its mechanics and limitations are pretty much what I guessed, right?"
Gu Sanqiu nodded. "More or less. To release that kind of power instantly, I'll need to get stronger first."
He scattered a handful of seeds around the ruined camp and performed a hand seal, using elemental energy to restore some of the damage.
"Well, did you figure out what's wrong with yourself?"
Gu Sanqiu frowned and shook his head.
"Doesn't seem to be anything limiting me in battle."
Tartaglia set the handkerchief aside and lay flat on the ground, clearly drained from the fight.
"Want to hear my thoughts?"
