Chapter 95: Hamilton

Looking at my watch, I sigh. She’s just awakened, and I need to leave. With all that she’s got going on in her life, I should really stay here with her.

“What’s wrong?” Madison’s brow furrows.

“I need to run to town for a bit,” I admit reluctantly. “I bought something a month ago with the promise to pick it up my next time in town.” I run my hands down my face. “It should only take an hour.”

A small smile slides upon her face. “You should go. We’ll be okay.” She tightens the messy bun on top of her head.

“You can come with me.” The words fly out of my mouth. I should have considered it earlier. “Liberty should come, too. I can’t wait to see her reaction.”

Although I purchased the puppy to keep me company in Chicago, I love that all three of us can share it now. What little girl wouldn’t love a puppy?

Madison mulls over my offer for a few moments. I watch as she processes the rest of the day and an impromptu trip to town with Liberty.
