Chapter 116: Madison

I scan the crowd of holiday travelers scrambling around the airport–meeting Memphis and Amy may be harder than I anticipated. Delta and I maneuver the stroller as best we can towards the baggage claim where we planned to meet and anchor ourselves by a large pole to wait.

After a few moments, Liberty begins waving animatedly. My eyes follow hers. Leave it to my baby girl to spot Memphis before the two adults.

“Na-na!” She yells, wiggling against the seatbelt restraint of her stroller.

Memphis strides toward us, still waving at her granddaughter. I unbuckle and lift Liberty. “Just a minute, Grandma will be here in just a minute.” My words do little to soothe her.

“There’s my girl,” Memphis croons with outstretched arms.

Liberty leans towards her with arms extended. I release my hold, allowing the two to celebrate their reunion. Memphis peppers kisses over her cheeks, nose, forehead, and chin, causing her to giggle.
