“I expect you to take it easy today,” Hamilton reminds me.
I know he only wants to look out for me, but I find his constant reminders to take naps tiresome. As the Women of the Cubs Valentine’s Gala draws near, he’s become more vigilant.
“The committee meets for an hour this afternoon,” I remind him. “The others will do all the set up and decorating tomorrow. My only job is to dawn my gown and read the script at the event.”
I’ve informed him of this several times this week, but he needs my assurance that I won’t overdo it. We have a busy nine days ahead of us. Tomorrow night is the Valentine’s Gala, then we’ll enjoy the final days together before spring training. On Thursday, we drive to Missouri where Liberty will stay with Memphis while Hamilton and I head to Kansas City for Savannah’s wedding weekend. Finally, on Sunday, I must drop Hamilton off at the airport headed for Arizona before Liberty and I drive back to Chicago on Monday.
