Chapter 141: Hamilton

My excitement grows as I get closer to home. I can’t wait to surprise the girls with the rest of the day off. Traffic cooperates, and I make it home in record time. I drum my fingers against my slacks as I wait for the elevator to climb the last five floors. I have no idea what we will do this afternoon—spending quality time with my two girls grows more important as spring training draws near.

Upon entering, I find the front room and kitchen vacant. The door to Madison’s office is closed, and Miss Alba is absent. I stride down the hallway, following the sound of Fallon and Liberty’s voices to her bedroom. I peek my head in the doorway, finding them dancing and singing along to a children’s song in Spanish.

“Daddy!” Liberty launches herself into my arms.

“Hola,” I laugh.

“Hola, Daddy,” she returns.

I look to Fallon. “My schedule opened up, so I thought I would spend the afternoon with my family.”
