I thought my worries about Hamilton would cease when he began unrestricted practice last week, but that isn’t the case. His mood didn’t improve. I worry that while he’s focused on physical workouts, he hasn’t healed mentally.
A couple of times each week, he’s restless for several minutes as he sleeps before he bolts upright, waking from his dream. His body is coated from head to toe in sweat from his flailing.
Although I attempt to learn the subject of his dreams, he refuses to share. When I suggest he see someone to work through his fears and issues, he walks away from me, ending the conversation.
He doubles his workouts and the amount of time he studies opposing batters while pulling away from Liberty and me. I’m sure he’s depressed on some level, but he’s unwilling to hear my concerns.
