*Esmerelda*
I could do nothing but stare at the headmaster in stunned silence for several moments. I was too shocked by the devastating story.
Elijah didn’t deserve any of this. He might have been what others consider a monster, but it was clear that he only wanted to do good. He didn’t want to be a killer. He resisted it for so long and was still trying to do so.
What really pushed me over the edge was the story about the young woman Elijah had befriended. It was so easy to imagine his tender smile as he took care of her and watched over her. I hated that it was also too easy for me to imagine the look of utter devastation when he found her dead.
The headmaster was watching me silently, acting as if he was giving me time to process all of the heavy information he just provided me with. He suddenly looked a lot older talking about these grim topics as well.
