Viper’s applause echoed through the room. “Ha ha ha, brilliant, absolutely brilliant!”
I fixed him with a hard stare. “I thought you said there’s no need to rush a sale.”
Viper shrugged. “I did say that, but who knows when she’ll run off again? Better make the most of it while I can.”
The bidding had already begun.
“One hundred thousand!”
“Hundred and ten!”
“Hundred and fifty!”
The arena was buzzing with excitement. Men eagerly threw out numbers in a race to claim the small frame on the center of the stage.
“Three hundred thousand!” someone yelled out and a hush fell over the crowd.
My fingers gripped tightly around the cup in my hand.
“Three hundred and fifty thousand!”
Now the arena fell into a silence until a voice broke through. “Three hundred and eighty thousand.”
The blonde MC smiled, her overly sweet voice rang out, “Three hundred and eighty thousand, first time.”
“Three hundred and eighty thousand, second time.”
