Chapter 48: Young Madam Flirting with a Young Man

"Young Master, do you want me to get out and call Young Madam over?" Li Feng asked nervously, feeling the suffocating tension inside the car.

The low pressure in the vehicle was almost unbearable, making it hard for him to breathe. It was rare for the Young Master to show emotional intelligence, saying he would come to pick up Young Madam after work. Yet, at this crucial moment, Young Madam had chosen to flirt with some young man.

Ugh! His head was starting to hurt.

"Why would she need to get in the car if there's a man with her?" Fu Hanniann's cold aura filled the space. His icy gaze turned from the window as he pulled out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter, lighting one up and placing it between his lips.

"But, Young Master, it's about to rain," Li Feng pointed out, glancing anxiously at the darkening sky outside. The clouds were gathering ominously, and it was clear a storm was brewing.

"She's capable of flirting with men so effortlessly; does she really need to worry about getting wet? Drive!" Fu Hanniann commanded sharply, puffing out smoke rings that hung in the air like a dense fog.

With no other choice, Li Feng started the car.

Meanwhile, the driver who had come to pick up Mu Zuochen was already at the scene. Mu Zuochen had opened the car door, insisting on escorting Gu Yining. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a familiar vehicle whizzing past her.

Thinking she must have seen it wrong, she craned her neck to glimpse the license plate number.

It was indeed Fu Hanniann's car.

"Mu Zuochen, thank you, but I can take a taxi home. See you later!" Gu Yining waved goodbye to him, pulling out her phone as she sprinted towards Fu Hanniann's car, frantically dialing his number.

The Fu Corporation and Lingcheng University were on opposite ends of the city, completely out of each other's way. Why would his car be passing by at this time? Was he really coming to pick her up after class?

Oh no, he must have seen her chatting with Mu Zuochen just now.

Inside the Maybach, Fu Hanniann's phone rang incessantly.

Holding the phone, Fu Hanniann glanced at the caller ID, which read: "Wang Wang."

It was a rather telling nickname, one he had given her after she had drunkenly insisted on getting a divorce last night and then imitated a dog barking.

"Young Master, it's Young Madam. She seems to be catching up," Li Feng noted, deliberately slowing down the car.

"Are you driving a turtle?" Fu Hanniann shot him a frosty glare.

His eyes were filled with a chilling intensity, making Li Feng feel the weight of his wrath. He had no choice but to slam the gas pedal, accelerating quickly.

The Maybach sped away like a gust of wind, disappearing entirely from Gu Yining's sight.

Panting heavily, Gu Yining stopped and put her hands on her hips, muttering, "That dog of a man! He's definitely doing this on purpose."

Just then, the sky opened up, and rain began to pour, accompanied by the booming sound of thunder. Huge raindrops fell from the heavens like cannonballs.

Gu Yining immediately turned on her heels and ran toward a nearby shelter, desperate to catch a taxi.

After finally returning to the Fu residence, the sky was already dark.

As she stepped out of the taxi, she felt the chill of the rain soaking her clothes and hair, leaving her looking somewhat disheveled and unkempt.

Upon entering the living room, she found Fu Hanniann lounging on the sofa, flipping through a magazine. The entire villa was enveloped in a cold atmosphere.

Gu Yining couldn't help but shiver involuntarily.

"Ah-choo!" A loud sneeze escaped her, and Fu Hanniann slowly lifted his gaze to her, a hint of annoyance crossing his face. "Wasn't someone supposed to pick you up? And yet you end up looking like this? If you're trying to gain sympathy, Gu Yining, your methods are quite impressive."

Gu Yining felt overwhelmed by his biting remarks. "I didn't ask anyone to pick me up! I took a taxi back! I saw your car behind me, and I was chasing after you, but you didn't answer my calls or stop!"

"You're blaming me now?" Fu Hanniann assessed her, confirming she was not lying, and his tone softened slightly, losing some of its earlier edge.

As the tension in the room thickened, Gu Yining felt a mixture of frustration and relief wash over her. She was finally face-to-face with him, and despite the chilly atmosphere, she couldn't help but feel a spark of warmth at his concern, buried beneath layers of his icy demeanor.
