Chapter 52: Settling into a Warm Bed

Today was a momentous day for Gu Yining. She had successfully closed a significant business deal and discovered that her husband wasn't actually gay. Her mood was soaring, practically glowing with happiness.

After leaving the studio, Gu Yining slipped into a nearby lingerie boutique, ready to explore.

"Men tend to think with their lower halves," she mused to herself, recalling the truths she'd picked up along the way. If she were just a bit bolder and put more thought into her outfit choices, she could easily turn things in her favor.

"Good afternoon, miss! What type of lingerie are you looking for today?" a cheerful sales associate approached her.

Feeling a bit shy, Gu Yining's gaze wandered to the row of sexy lingerie on display. She was unsure where to begin.

"What type of lingerie do men like most?" she asked, biting her lip in embarrassment.

"Well, the less fabric, the better! Transparency is key!" the sales associate responded enthusiastically, launching into a detailed description. "Let me show you some of our bestsellers: the ice silk black lace collection, and we also have a variety of fun outfits—nurse costumes, schoolgirl outfits, sailor suits..."

Gu Yining stood there, wide-eyed like a country bumpkin visiting the city for the first time.

Despite her initial embarrassment, she couldn't help but admire the sales associate's professionalism. Perhaps she deserved a bonus for her efforts.

After a lengthy ten-minute pitch, Gu Yining ultimately bought a relatively conservative piece—a black lace outfit. She rushed to pay, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she exited the store, covering her face with her hands.

It was just too mortifying.

Later that evening, Fu Hanniann returned home from work, yet Gu Yining was nowhere to be found. He didn't ask about her, simply headed upstairs to their bedroom.

Once inside, he followed his usual routine, shedding his heavy suit jacket and heading to the bathroom for a shower.

The sound of running water echoed from the bathroom.

Meanwhile, Gu Yining, who had been lying in wait beneath the covers, peeked out just enough to take a few deep breaths. She felt like she was suffocating; after hiding for over an hour, she desperately needed air.

Fu Hanniann must have been out late entertaining clients, given the strong smell of alcohol wafting from his jacket tossed carelessly on the sofa.

About twenty minutes later, the bathroom door creaked open.

Gu Yining quickly dove back under the covers.

Fu Hanniann emerged from the bathroom wrapped in a bathrobe, his presence commanding the space.

Beneath the blanket, Gu Yining's heart raced like a drum, pounding so hard it felt like it might leap from her chest.

With each step he took, she could hear him moving closer.

She had devised a clever strategy in advance: the moment Fu Hanniann pulled back the covers, she would spring into his arms and pull him onto the bed. Once nestled in his embrace, he wouldn't be able to resist her charms.

But as the seconds ticked by, it felt like she was waiting an eternity. His footsteps slowed and seemed to pause at the edge of the bed, yet he didn't draw any nearer.

Impatience flared up inside her.

Why wasn't he lifting the covers?

Here she was, all snuggled up and ready, the bed warmed up just for him.

"Come on! Just pull back the blanket already!" she silently urged, feeling frustrated.

Ten minutes slipped by, and Gu Yining could no longer hold out. She surrendered, emerging from the covers.

Fu Hanniann leaned back against the headboard, arms crossed, a smirk playing on his lips as he regarded her with a piercing gaze that seemed to hold both amusement and challenge.

"Is my bed that comfortable?" he teased.

"It's... not bad," Gu Yining stammered, blushing as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "But it would be even better with two people sharing it."

She pulled the blanket down slightly, revealing the black lace slip she wore underneath, which accentuated her fair skin and curves beautifully.

Her white arms moved in a way that was undeniably alluring, serving as an effective lure for any man.

"Is this all you think about? Bedtime activities?" Fu Hanniann said, leaning closer, his long fingers lifting her chin to meet his gaze. His eyes sparkled with a mix of arrogance and mischief.

"Shut up!" Gu Yining snapped, slapping his hand away and sitting up in a huff, shooting him a glare filled with frustration as she stormed out of the bedroom.

He was perfect in many ways, but unfortunately, he also had a mouth that could drive her crazy.
