Chapter 60: Who Did This?

"How did I end up marrying such a venomous woman like you?" Fu Hanning scoffed, shaking his head.

"Darling, how can you say that? I'm clearly your savior, a lovely and kind white-clad angel! Words like that will hurt my feelings," Gu Yicing dramatically replied, channeling her inner actress.

"Pfft!" he spat, rolling his eyes.

In the afternoon, Gu Yicing returned to school for her classes. To her dismay, she discovered that someone had broken into her personal locker. Her laptop, filled with personal information and crucial documents—including her computer science project due in class that day—had been smashed to pieces.

Standing before the wreckage of her laptop, Gu Yicing felt a wave of sorrow wash over her. Everyone in her class expected her to react as she always did—quietly picking up the shattered remains of her computer and retreating to her seat in sadness. They saw her as a timid and insecure girl who never stood up for herself.

But today was different. Gu Yicing raised her eyes, which now gleamed with a fierce intensity, and hoisted the broken laptop. One deliberate step after another, she walked toward the front of the classroom, her footsteps ringing clear and resolute.

It was time for the computer science class, and students began to file into the classroom, taking their seats. Mu Zuocheng and his friends returned from basketball practice, their damp hair glistening with sweat. Upon arriving at the classroom door, they spotted Gu Yicing, her aura radiating darkness as she flung the broken laptop onto the teacher's desk.

She stood there like a queen, her lips pressed into a tight line, and her voice cut through the air like a knife: "Who did this? Step forward!"

The boys in the class exchanged glances, whispering among themselves, but no one stepped up to claim responsibility.

Gu Yicing narrowed her beautiful eyes, and her patience thinned rapidly. "I'll ask one last time: who did this? Step up now, and I'll give you a chance to make amends."

"Gu Yicing, it's just a broken laptop! Your family is rich; can't you just buy a new one?" one of the boys shouted dismissively.

"Yeah, why make such a big deal out of it?" others chimed in, their voices dripping with disdain.

Mu Zuocheng, unable to contain himself any longer, tossed his basketball aside and marched toward the group of boys who were talking trash. He grabbed one by the collar and said fiercely, "Shut up! Apologize to Gu Yicing right now."

Caught off guard and realizing who they were dealing with, the boy's bravado evaporated. "We're just stating facts! Do you really need to act like this? Why do you keep defending this ugly girl? You can't possibly like her, can you?" he retorted, trying to regain some ground.

"I'm ordering you to apologize!" Mu Zuocheng's usually gentle demeanor was replaced by a fierce glare, his eyes filled with fury and bloodshot veins.

The stark contrast between his usual soft-spoken self and this intimidating figure left the boys stunned. Ultimately, the boy relented, glancing begrudgingly at Gu Yicing. "I'm sorry."

Only after hearing the apology did Mu Zuocheng let go of the boy's collar.

Gu Yicing paid little mind to those who had insulted her. They were entitled to their opinions; she couldn't control how others viewed her. What mattered most to her right now was her laptop—the one that had been her companion for three long years.

She was someone who valued her connections deeply, and it hurt that these individuals were intent on destroying the things she cherished. Today, it was her laptop; previously, it had been her beloved pet dog, which she had cared for over seven years.

With her lips tightly pressed together, Gu Yicing radiated a chilling aura. "Alright, still no one willing to admit it? Then I'll personally take them to the judgment seat."

With that, she strode down from the podium and marched directly toward the back of the classroom, her presence casting a cold shadow over everyone. The other students instinctively parted to make way for her.

As she reached the destroyed locker, she noticed something—a small black pinhole camera.
