Chapter 13 Love Kidney Mobile Store

"Dave, Uncle has a gift for you." Hashirama looked at the knot in his hand, surprised.

"From now on, you don't have to look for Madara just to play with him!"

Hashirama then pulled out a huge scroll, which contained his insights into some Wood Style techniques and some simple to slightly difficult ninjutsu.

"Hey, thank you, Uncle Hashirama." Dave smiled like a child.

He was curious to know if he could only grow plants, or if he could also use Wood Style ninjutsu like Hashirama.

However, for the past few months, Hashirama, as the Hokage of the village, had been busy with many things every day. Dave was also busy working on things with Orochi Roku, so he never had a chance to ask.

"Dave-kun, happy birthday." The little girl, Yuemei, blushed as she handed Dave a scarf she had sewn herself.

Dave smiled and took it. No wonder Yue Mei always had a needle and thread in hand during class recently.

Yue Mei was thrilled that Dave liked her gift.

As the eldest daughter of the second elder of the Uchiha clan, she was usually allowed to do whatever she liked. But since getting engaged to Dave, the second elder's wife had often taught Yue Mei skills like cooking, laundry, and sewing, putting spiritual training aside.

"You're engaged to Dave anyway, so why practice? With the Uchiha and Senju clans behind you, who in Konoha would dare to bully you?" The second elder had shifted his focus to his genius son, Jing, who now often came to Dave, his brother-in-law, to complain tearfully about his father's strict expectations.

Hiruzen's gift was simple and modest, wrapped in a box. Dave took a peek inside—it turned out to be a photo album of Miss Yui Yui. Dave nearly shouted, Hiruzen, you get me.

Danzo's gift, however, left everyone puzzled. He handed Dave a gold-plated hoe.

"Ahem, Dave, didn't you say on your first day of school that your dream was to have a piece of land to grow plants? I thought you'd appreciate this," Danzo said, blushing under everyone's confused stares.

Realizing he'd been pranked by Hiruzen, Danzo's embarrassment grew. Giving someone a hoe at a birthday party? What was he thinking?

"Ahem, Danzo, you're really thoughtful. Come on, let's eat!" Dave tried to ease the awkwardness.

The meal was mostly uneventful, except for Hashirama, who, after drinking too much, rambled on about Madara's childhood stories, much to Madara's embarrassment. Madara nearly lost her temper and almost lashed out at him.

The next day…

"Brother Lu, do you think our 'Kidney Love' mobile phones will sell well?" Dave asked as he and Orochi Roku sat behind the counter of their newly opened store.

"...I don't know... Actually, I want to know why you named them 'Kidney Love' phones?" Orochimaru asked, shaking his head in confusion.

"Well, it's to remind people to cherish their kidneys! What if our phones become so expensive that people start selling their kidneys to buy one?" Dave said with a shiver, his mind clearly full of strange ideas.

"By the way, Brother Lu, have you ever thought about becoming a ninja?" Dave asked, suddenly remembering that Orochimaru's parents were supposed to have died in the First Ninja War in the original story. But Brother Lu wasn't even a ninja yet. How could he have participated in the battlefield?

"...To be honest, I've thought about it. The village is just getting established, and the price of the crops we grow fluctuates a lot. Last year, we only sold our harvest for 30,000 silver taels. I was planning to sell the land and try becoming a ninja after this year's harvest. A simple ninja mission pays a few thousand taels, but it seems I don't need to anymore."

Orochimaru paused, speaking in a low voice.

"...Well, you still need me to lead Konoha into prosperity. Brother Lu, when your son is born, he'll have me to thank for not letting his parents die young!" Dave thought for a moment, smiling happily.

Haha, Orochimaru, your parents won't have to die young! Your son will thank me in the future!

"...Okay, I just came to check in today. I'll go back and continue my research. You're too polite. I still have to work on the LAN, WiFi, computers, and other things you've suggested. I have no idea how you come up with these ideas." Orochimaru sighed, rolling his eyes before standing up, yawning, and leaving.

Two days earlier, Orochimaru's sister had told Dave that Orochimaru hadn't been home in a month, her expression resembling that of a deeply resentful wife. Dave, feeling guilty, quickly pulled Orochi out of the lab and sent him home to rest.

"Hey, Brother Lu, hang in there. Until your son is born, you've got to do all the hard work! Go home and make it up to Aunt Snake. Once your kid is here, it'll be much easier for you!" Dave murmured to himself as Orochimaru left.

"Yo! Energetic and youthful boss! What's going on here?" A loud, passionate voice suddenly rang out, bringing Dave out of his thoughts.

Dave was momentarily stunned. That passionate, youthful voice... Sure enough, as he looked at the store's entrance, he saw a man in green tights, sporting a bowl-cut hairstyle and a resolute face. His sparkling grin nearly blinded Dave!

This kappa monster! Although they weren't as familiar with each other as in the original story, they were still close.

"Um, hello, sir. This is the Kidney Love Mobile Phone Store," Dave said enthusiastically.

"Actually, I saw your recruitment notice at the door. Do you think I'd be a good fit?" the middle-aged man asked hesitantly.

"Of course! You're perfect for it!" Dave exclaimed, barely containing his excitement.

"By the way... Is the ten thousand taels a month listed in the job ad accurate?" the man asked cautiously.

"Absolutely! But since we're destined to meet, I'll make it fifteen thousand taels a month! What's your name?"

"Might."
