"They circled us..."
Artis continued, his voice dropping to a whisper for dramatic effect. He leaned in closer to Hajin, his eyes wide with mock horror.
"They circled us like predators, their eyes cold and cruel."
He shuddered, throwing in a little quiver for good measure.
"Then... one of them punched me. Just one punch. Right here."
He tapped his jaw, looking utterly betrayed.
"Knocked me out cold."
Hajin gasped, his hand flying to his mouth.
"N-No way!"
He was buying this. He was actually buying this crap. Lily was torn between slapping some sense into him and laughing her ass off.
"Oh yes."
Artis said, nodding gravely.
"I went down like a sack of potatoes. And then... their cold eyes... turned to her."
He pointed dramatically at Lily, who just blinked, her brain struggling to process this nonsense.
Hajin's eyes widened, his whole body tensing like he was about to have a panic attack.
