I don't need your money

"Huh????" Odelia looked at him in confusion, not understanding what he meant. Daniella, who was also leaning on the bench, blinked in surprise. Why was her brother acting so strange today?

"What request is he talking about?" Odelia said, speaking out loud what she had been thinking. Julian, who knew his boss was a man of few words, came to Odelia's aid, seeing the confusion on her face.

"My boss wants you to name your request for saving the young Miss' life. He wants to thank you," Julian said, his expression saying, "You just landed yourself a golden opportunity to rip money off the richest man in New York for free."

Odelia stared at him in surprise before scowling and turning to Don Gardner in annoyance. Did he think he saved his sister so that she would receive a reward? Did he see her as a gold digger with no morals? Was saying thank you to her that difficult?

Odelia knew this kind of rich people who looked down on others because of their wealth. Besides, he is the same person who would later call her a gold digger and make all sorts of assumptions about her character if she requested a reward.

"Can I request anything I want?" Odelia asked sarcastically, but Don Gardner, who was usually dense, didn't even realize her sarcastic tone and gave Julian a look. Daniella, on the other hand, reeled in the laughter that was about to burst out of her mouth and curiously looked on to see what would happen next.

She had never seen anyone who had not been intimidated by her brother's cold and deathly glares. Even her, who was his younger sister, would usually be trembling and shaking in fear when he looked at her with such an aggressive gaze.

Julian brought out several bank cards and looked at his boss. "Which one should I give to her?" He asked and stretched out both his palms, which had a wide spread of bank cards on them. Daniella's mouth was opened in shock, looking at the scene speechlessly.

Don Gardner had just opened his mouth to give a response to Julian's question when Odelia's excited voice, like that of a little girl who had seen candy yelled in feigned surprise,

"Wow, you even carry so many bank cards along with you? I just saved a life, so you should give me the one with a lot of zeros. You know, the more, the better." She said and winked at Don Gardner, smiling greedily, but in her mind, she wanted to roll her eyes at the extravagant show of wealth. 'Who does he think is? Lee Min Ho acting as the male lead in a K-drama?'

Don Gardner's eyes narrowed, taking in all the emotions on her face as he listened to her words. He began to think he had been right all along; she had been after their money. It wouldn't be surprising if she had orchestrated the whole thing to get a reward from him. He had met people like that several times.

"Give her the black card," Don Gardner said to Julian, whose eyes bulged at his boss's order; 'it was an unlimited card! And he was giving it out just like that.' But what could he do? No matter how unwilling he was in his heart, he could only obey his boss's order.

So, turning towards Odelia, he unwillingly stretched his hand to give out the card to Odelia, but he didn't expect her to knock the card out of his hand and make the card fall onto the floor.

"I don't need your money," she scoffed, looking at Don Gardner with an arrogant look on her face. At the blatant disrespect, Daniella and the surrounding guards held their breaths in trepidation. Most of them had a look of "foolish woman, you just poked a sleeping tiger" written all over their faces.

The look on Don Gardner's face was so frightening and bone-chilling that even Daniella began to tremble.

Meanwhile, Odelia, the culprit and the main receiver of those deathly glares, was unfazed. After all, she had received similar glances from Mr. Graham, her biological father, several times. But to be frank, Don Gardner's glares were truly frightening and not even close to her father's weak ones, but she just had to imagine Don Gardner's face as Adam Gray's, and voila, the hatred she felt towards Adam would fuel her to face him with ease.

She removed her backpack from behind her and took out a chequebook, wrote $1000 at first, and began to add a whole lot of zeros to it. She smirked at Don Gardner, throwing the cheque at him and saying,

"This is yours." And like a scene from a movie in slow motion, the cheque floated in the air and fell at his feet.

"You must have a death wish to do what you just did." Don Gardner's voice was filled with suppressed fury. He sounded like the devil himself talking from the pits of hell. Daniella wanted to run away from there. But Odelia, who had lost everything and had nothing to lose, ignored him, walked closer to Daniella, patted her head, and smiled down at her.

"Take care, little girl; if fate allows it, we shall meet again; I will make you my cute little sister then," she said and walked away, never looking back, and jumped onto the train that was about to move, and she had already disappeared out of their sight before they knew it. If Odelia only knew what fate had in store, her words would later come true.

Daniella wanted to applaud the woman for her courage to face the great Don Gardner without flinching, but seeing how dark her brother's face had become, she knew she couldn't provoke him further.

"Stop the train!" Don Gardner barked.

"Brother! Please spare her; she saved my life," Daniella pleaded; she knew how unreasonable her brother could sometimes be. But one look from the king of hell, and Daniella clamped her mouth shut. The look on her brother's face told her, "You should worry about yourself."

Julian had just taken a few steps to follow through with the boss's order when the piercing ring of the phone made him pause. He picked up the phone and spoke to the person on the phone for a few seconds and turned to look at his boss as if he were hesitating.

"Speak." Don Gardner growled.

"Sir, the old master has fainted; you are needed in the main mansion," Julian said tentatively.

Don Gardner frowned as he stared in the direction where Odelia had disappeared. For some odd reason, he was intrigued by the woman; if she wanted his attention, she had got it. Ha! Did she throw a cheque at him? A dangerous smirk formed at the corner of his lips. 'Interesting. He would make sure to find her and deal with her later.'

"Let's go," he said, and, together with the large number of guards, they left the train station.
