SHATTERED HEART

Nadia started to hum for the umpteenth time, and Ares' teeth gritted reflexively, as he shut his eyes.

It was bad enough that he was stuck in the cell opposite hers. Now she had to add to his pain by her constant humming.

"This must be difficult for you," she suddenly said.

He didn't answer, and he thought she'd take a hint that he just didn't feel like talking to her.

But more, and more, Nadia was doing whatever she wanted. That included ignoring his need to ignore her.

"For me, I'm a little used to these kinds of conditions. Because of how you locked me up, remember? How the tables have turned," she muttered that part under her breath.

Ares, who was laying on his back, and counting the ceilings, continued to do what he was already doing.

His mind wandered about as he counted. He didn't know how long he had been locked up, but he knew it was here he regained his memory little by little.
