Chapter 22: Planetary Thruster, Virtual Reality

The screen displayed an aerial view of the crater.

Yan Xia asked, "Are you going to show me the antimatter-matter annihilation device?"

Ella smiled mysteriously.

"Of course, that's what I'm showing you now."

"But our first-generation device is much larger than you can imagine, Yan Xia."

Upon hearing this, Yan Xia had a premonition.

He turned around to look at the other Hundred-Eyed Race members behind him, and their crystal optical fibers were flashing rapidly. Even without the translation, Yan Xia could tell that they were in a state of excitement.

Ella continued, "Today is the year 4265, Yan Xia. We have once again made a technological leap."

"Mastering antimatter-matter annihilation energy has also given us control over the movement of large masses."

"Initiate ignition."

All the preparations had been completed before Yan Xia's hibernation and awakening.

Now was the final test.

Yan Xia felt the ground tremble, from high-frequency vibrations to low-frequency intense shocks.

In the aerial view on the screen,

There was a large amount of light distortion at the crater's opening.

Then, extremely intense heat waves burst out, accompanied by white flames.

"Planetary thruster."

Yan Xia stood up. The scale of this project was enormous, and it couldn't have been built in just a few decades. Ella must have started its construction 500 years ago.

In fact, Yan Xia's biggest concern at the time was how to colonize the Hundred-Eyed Race for an extended period.

Because the planet he was currently on was not their original destination, and it was not suitable for the Hundred-Eyed Race to live on, nor for humans.

Now that he knew that true humans could be cultivated from his cells, Yan Xia's goal was still to go to Proxima Centauri b.

But if he left on a spacecraft, the Hundred-Eyed Race would not be able to manage things.

This planet was three light-years away from Proxima Centauri, and even with Ella's remote control, the signal transmission would take six years for a round trip.

That was too long. If the Hundred-Eyed Race rebelled, it would be impossible to stop them.

At the time, he had only mentioned this matter in passing, and he didn't expect Ella to take it so seriously and even start researching and building it.

The completion of the planetary thruster meant that they could later push this planet to the edge of Proxima Centauri.

Furthermore, they could even create a stellar system, moving several planets with the right mass into the habitable zone.

They could even bring this planet into the Solar System and place it in Earth's original position, replacing Earth.

However, this would take a long time.

Because Ella predicted that the Sun would enter an overly active phase in the next million years, and the habitable zone of the Solar System would become a forbidden zone during this period.

"How much can this thruster move the planet?" Yan Xia asked.

Ella quickly provided the data.

"Originally, all celestial bodies in the Milky Way revolved around the galactic center. The speed of the Hundred-Eyed Star beneath our feet is 115 km/s. With just one planetary thruster, it's not possible to control the planet's direction."

"But I've already started the production of more planetary thrusters. In about 200 years, Yan Xia, you'll see 100 such thrusters."

"Don't underestimate these thrusters, which have a diameter of 18 kilometers. Since the planet has no atmosphere, and with the efficiency of the antimatter-matter annihilation energy, 100 thrusters are enough to accelerate the planet to a speed exceeding 250 km/s."

For a massive object, this was already a very high speed.

No wonder the Hundred-Eyed Race was so excited.

The completion of the planetary thruster 200 years later meant that they could fully control the planet beneath their feet.

This was an unprecedented feat.

...

The metal wall descended again.

After the Hundred-Eyed Race's high-level members left, Yan Xia remained seated.

"Ella, now that the antimatter-matter annihilation technology has reached a mature stage, what about the other thing?"

Over the past 500 years, there had been occasional acts of rebellion by the Hundred-Eyed Race.

To solve this problem, Yan Xia decided to develop something to completely achieve virtual invasion and suppression.

That was virtual reality.

A part of virtual invasion is virtual infiltration, and even the main part.

The most challenging aspect of virtual infiltration is getting the other party to accept knowledge; it's easier to get them to accept entertainment.

Yan Xia's decision was to create a virtual reality game world, where he would gradually complete the virtual infiltration and implantation of the Hundred-Eyed Race.

Ella never forgot anything.

"If virtual reality is only visual, it's relatively easy."

"But if it involves brainwave connections, it becomes extremely difficult."

"During these years, I've dissected over 100,000 bodies of the Hundred-Eyed Race and discovered that they don't have a brain. Their consciousness exists in their highly developed nervous system throughout their bodies."

"These nerves can connect to form a brain-like structure, and they can also disperse to handle simple tasks, such as shutting down 99% of their nerves to sleep and using 1% to stay alert."

"This creates a lot of difficulties. To pull the Hundred-Eyed Race's consciousness into virtual reality is tens of thousands of times more difficult than with humans."

As she spoke, Ella made a gesture of invitation.

Yan Xia stood up and walked outside.

They walked and talked along the way, and then took the maglev train to another city.

This city was not very bright, and there were only a few volcanoes around, leaving it in a state of cold darkness.

Entering the city, Yan Xia saw countless robots working.

"I originally wanted to build my main server here."

"But I realized that I'm following you, Yan Xia. Hundred-Eyed Star is not our destination but our starting point."

"So my main server is still on the Hope. Here, everything you see is part of another main server."

Yan Xia looked around.

The only word to describe it was shocking.

It was because it was so huge.

This was a giant city with a radius of 30 kilometers.

If all the buildings here were replaced with residential buildings of the same volume, accommodating millions of people would be a piece of cake.

And all of this was part of the main server.

"How many times more powerful is this main server than yours?"

Yan Xia felt that Ella was very proud of this main server.

"100 billion times."

Ella's computing power had long surpassed quantum computing in the field of digital image computing, reaching 79 trillion trillion operations per second. And now, with a 100 billion times increase, it was 79 trillion trillion trillion operations per second.

Such terrifying computing power was beyond human imagination.

"This main server will be fully utilized in the field of virtual reality."

"We are currently developing a complete virtual world. The limit of this server should be to construct a complex world with a diameter of 0.5 light-years."

"The server's computing power will be dedicated to maintaining the virtual world, creating 100 trillion entities within it, and distributing the server's computing power to each entity."

Yan Xia did a quick calculation.

This meant that each entity would have 79 trillion operations per second, and at this level of computing power, the simulated intelligence would not be much lower than that of ordinary humans.

Was this creating a world?

"What about the maximum number of players it can accommodate?"

Yan Xia remembered that on Earth, the maximum number of players per server was only a few dozen, and it would lag if there were more.

Even in online games, the optimal number of players on the same screen was around 150.

"This virtual world is not just one server; it can accommodate 10 billion players in the same map simultaneously."

It was the dream of every gamer.

Yan Xia was so excited that he wanted to enter this virtual world.

Unfortunately, it would still take a long time to build a complex map with a diameter of 0.5 light-years.

He decided to continue hibernating, waiting for that moment to arrive.
