In the first few days, the Great Conqueror of Baladin was sailing on the sea not far from the coast. Every morning when Jess got up and left the cabin and came to the outside window, he could see the faint green on the distant sea level.
Unlike Jess's initial worry, the passengers and sailors on the ship were not as extremely fierce as imagined. There were merchants, workers, many craftsmen and hunters from Stranglethorn Vale, and even a few minor nobles with some reputations.
From their mouths, one can hear that humans already have some settlements in Stranglethorn Vale, some small villages and camps. After the disastrous defeat of the Gurubashi Empire in the war with the Kingdom of Stormwind, the trolls almost never leave the range of troll cities, so they don't cause any trouble to them.
In general, they are mostly normal people. Everyone chats, laughs, drinks, shares some dry food, and gets to know each other simply. For a while, regional and cultural differences are all smoothed out.
This morning when Jess got up, he found that the touch of green in the distance had disappeared, and the various seabirds that had been accompanying the ship were also gone. The deck was so quiet that it was a bit uncomfortable.
Jess saw a retired veteran staring at the sea in a daze. He walked over and asked, "Sir, are we sailing in the direction of the sea?"
"Yes." The soldier said: "We may have approached Menethil Bay. Next, we will head northwest to Southshore."
"Are we not stopping at the port?"
"Probably. To save time." The soldier said: "But the Baladin Bay has always been restless. I have a bad premonition."
In fact, this premonition came much faster than expected. After a while, a bearded passenger muttered to his friend that they might be about to hit a storm.
At noon, the goblins in the corridor were discussing whether to dock at Menethil Harbor, but the first mate, Gazik, said that the captain wanted to reach Southshore as soon as possible and didn't want to waste time in Khaz Modan.
In the evening, Jess could already see from the bow that the direction in which this great Conqueror of Baladin was sailing was pitch black.
He asked the goblin sailor: "Are we sure we want to rush into the storm?"
"What else?". The goblin sailor said: "Turn the ship around now and then be caught up by the storm? Then we'll have a hard time. Don't worry, human. There won't be any problem. Just go back to the cabin and it will be fine by tomorrow."
Sailors are always sailors. They must have much more sailing experience than himself. Jess simply returned to the cabin, checked his luggage and so on to make sure there was no loss in the storm.
He remembered the scenes of ships encountering storms in movies. To avoid it becoming too tragic later, he tied his warlock's package and stick to his body first. After making sure that there was nothing valuable left behind, he lay down on the bed and waited for the ship to meet the storm.
He didn't know when it started, but the ship was swaying more and more irregularly. Jess, who had almost gotten used to life on the ship, began to feel extremely nauseous again.
He got up from the bed and planned to walk in the corridor to distract himself, and then go to the hatch to get some air. However, when he was in the corridor, the continuous footsteps from above, the bursts of commotion and exclamations made him feel even more uneasy.
Looking out of the nearest window at the sea, waves of black waves swayed past his eyes. Thunder rumbled in the middle of the sky, extremely terrifying. In comparison, the ship was much calmer.
"By the Light... By the Light..."
A man with a pale face stumbled all the way towards the stern. Jess watched him run past. Originally, he wasn't very panicked, but he was also a little infected.
With a splash, a wave hit the ship. The white water sprayed into the window and splashed some water foam on him. Jess tightened his cloak, covered the warlock's bag under the cloak, put on his hood and walked towards the deck.
Just as he was about to go out of the exit, a gust of strong wind blew, making it difficult for him to open his eyes.
His face was scratched by cold water droplets. It was hard to tell whether it was raindrops or seawater splashing up.
"Should we raise the dinghy higher, Lazwi?!" A human outside asked loudly.
"If you can raise it now, then raise it. Do you still need to ask me?"
"Trulgil, go and see what's going on behind the ship. Hurry up!" Jess noticed that the sails had been furled. The mast wrapped thickly in canvas swayed under the thick dark clouds with the ship.
"Go back to the cabin! There's nothing to see here, human!" The goblin on high screamed.
Jess turned and went down to the cabin. As soon as he stepped down, the ship suddenly shook violently. He heard a clanging sound from under his feet. It seemed that something had fallen.
In the blink of an eye, a large splash of water suddenly leaked in from the hatch behind. Jess even thought that seawater had poured in again. However, only water splashed in continuously, and there was no seawater pouring in. It was starting to rain.
"How's it going outside? The people inside are almost scared to death."
Gerred suddenly appeared beside him. It seemed that he also wanted to go up and take a look.
Jess said: "It seems to be okay. Those goblins told us to stay inside."
As soon as he finished speaking, Gazik suddenly jumped down from above. While walking quickly, he yelled at someone, "Hurry up, Norville. Check the cargo hold! Is there a place that isn't tied tightly? If I find out who is responsible for fixing those boxes, I'll fucking..."
He shouted and rushed to the end of the corridor until his figure and voice disappeared at the same time. Gerred said: "In my experience, this storm is not big. It should be fine."
"Maybe the big one is still to come." Jess said.
"Don't let those sailors hear you." Gerred said with a smile: "Otherwise they will tie you up and hang you on the bow of the ship to appease the wrath of the sea god." Before Gerred finished laughing, the ship shook violently again and then suddenly rose. He hurriedly tried to grab everything he could grab beside him. Finally, he barely grabbed a door frame. And Jess was no better. He was hit on the shoulder and grabbed the other side of the door frame. He grimaced in pain.
Before the two of them could hold on firmly, the ship began to tilt seriously. The entire ship was filled with creaking noises everywhere. Clanging sounds came from everywhere, as well as screams and roars... Until the two of them were heavily thrown on the floor.
"How big is this wave?!" Gerred got up and asked.
A flash of lightning flashed from outside into the corridor. The faces of the two suddenly turned pale. There was a hysterical roar from under the ship, which could even compete with the muffled thunder.
"Did you hear that?" Jess asked.
"I heard it." Gerred said.
"What did he say?"
"It seems to be... there are dead people."
The two nodded at the same time, and then looked at the corridor leading to the lower cabin, where Gazik disappeared.
