Chapter 4: The Quarter-Finals Draw

The crowd at Ring 1 was left speechless as the tiger-headed man was eliminated, unable to withstand his opponent's attack. They stared at John Doe, unsure of what to say.

As time passed, the preliminary rounds progressed swiftly, and the contestants were quickly eliminated. At Ring 1, Yamcha and John Doe, at Ring 2, Cheng Long and Nan Wu, at Ring 3, Son Goku and Krillin, and at Ring 4, the Barbarian and Jilang, were all favorites to advance to the finals.

Yamcha was the first to defeat his opponent at Ring 1, securing the first spot in the quarter-finals.

Next up was John Doe's match against the beautiful Lan Fang, who was expected to advance in the manga. The winner of this match would secure a place in the quarter-finals.

At this point, Goku, Krillin, and the others had already defeated their opponents and advanced to the quarter-finals. They rushed to Ring 1 to cheer for John Doe, and among them was Master Roshi, disguised as Cheng Long.

Master Roshi was envious and jealous of John Doe's beautiful opponent, wishing he could be on the stage instead of his disciple.

John Doe's heart skipped a beat when he faced Lan Fang. He couldn't help but sigh, realizing that his mental cultivation still needed improvement.

However, he quickly regained his composure.

John Doe addressed Lan Fang, "Miss Lan, you should concede. You're no match for me. If we were to truly engage in combat, it might lead to an unsightly outcome for you."

Lan Fang had been closely observing her opponent and was well aware of John Doe's strength. She knew she wasn't his match, but she was confident in her victory.

With her experience in dealing with young men who lacked exposure to women, she smiled at John Doe and said, "You might attack me, but I believe you won't. Am I right?"

Lan Fang slowly unbuttoned her top, then removed it, her movements slow and alluring. She was left wearing only a lace bra.

The surrounding contestants erupted into a frenzy, their eyes turning into hearts. Master Roshi pushed aside the contestants in front of him and rushed to the edge of the ring. If not for the referee's intervention, he might have climbed onto the stage.

Unfazed, Lan Fang continued her actions, slowly removing her pants. Now, she was left wearing only two pieces of lace lingerie.

Her skin, illuminated by the white lights, shone with an ivory-like luster.

The contestants surrounding the ring went wild at the sight of Lan Fang.

"Go, Lan Fang! Go, Lan Fang! Go, Lan Fang!" they cheered.

Lan Fang was pleased with the effect she had created. She slowly approached John Doe, caressed his face, and exhaled a fragrance like that of a lotus flower. Leaning close to his ear, she said, "Little guy, can you bear to lay a hand on such a beautiful woman?"

As she spoke, she wrapped her ivory-like arm around John Doe's neck from behind and said, "If you let me advance, I promise that after the match, I'll show you what heaven feels like."

John Doe admitted that his mental cultivation was not yet perfected, and he struggled to remain calm in the face of this beauty's temptation.

However, he maintained a calm tone as he addressed the referee, "Can we start now?"

The referee, also captivated by Lan Fang's charm, snapped out of his trance at John Doe's reminder. Remembering his duty, he said, "Lan Fang, please refrain from interfering with the normal course of the match. Maintain a distance from John Doe. We're about to begin."

Lan Fang glared at John Doe with resentment, displeased with this man who didn't understand her intentions. Nonetheless, she released her grip and stepped away, then nodded to the referee, "Let's begin."

With both contestants ready, the referee shouted, "Begin!"

After the starting signal, Lan Fang smiled and asked John Doe, "As a gentleman, surely you won't lay a hand on me, will you?"

John Doe nodded, "Of course, I won't touch you."

Hearing this, Lan Fang was delighted and said, "You said it, not me. Everyone here heard it clearly."

"My word is my bond," John Doe replied.

After this exchange, John Doe pressed his palms together, gathering energy in his hands, and a faint white light appeared.

Lan Fang eyed him warily and asked, "What are you planning to do?"

John Doe glanced at her and said, "I'm sending you off the stage."

He waved his hand, and a gust of wind blew, causing those around the ring to squint. Lan Fang, directly in the path of the wind, was blown off the stage.

Climbing back up, Lan Fang said to John Doe, "You're truly an unromantic blockhead."

After she put her clothes back on, the crowd, deprived of the beautiful sight, howled in disappointment.

Thus, the eight quarter-finalists were decided.

Before the quarter-final draw, there was a short break of about ten minutes. John Doe, Goku, and the others went outside the arena to share the good news with Master Wu Tian.

Bulma approached them first, congratulating John Doe, Goku, and Yamcha, "John Doe, Goku, Yamcha, congratulations on making it to the finals! You've achieved your goals!"

Master Roshi was also pleased with his disciples' performance. He said, "I had you participate in this World Martial Arts Tournament to test your strength. The results don't matter as much as the experience. So, for the quarter-finals, don't feel pressured. Win or lose, it's not that important."

"Yes, Master," they replied in unison.

Just then, an announcement came over the speakers, "The eight quarter-finalists, please gather at the venue for the draw to determine the matchups."

Hearing this, John Doe and the others bid farewell and returned to the arena.

A host wearing sunglasses stepped forward and began calling contestants to draw their lots.

Soon, John Doe was called, and he reached into the box, randomly picking a tag and handing it to the host.

The host looked at the number and said, "Number five, third round, your opponent is Nan Wu."

Next, Krillin drew his lot and got number 2, pitting him against the Barbarian in the first round.

Krillin excitedly asked, "Who's the number one contestant?"

Just then, a foul odor wafted towards them, breaking John Doe's calm demeanor. Both he and Goku were Saiyans, with a sense of smell ten times that of ordinary people, making the stench even more unbearable.

The Barbarian approached, looked at Krillin, and said, "I'm the number one Barbarian. I'll give you a proper welcome, little shorty."

The crowd, overwhelmed by the Barbarian's presence, covered their mouths and noses and quickly dispersed.

The host quickly called the last contestant to draw their lot.
