When the king and crew reached the palace, everyone retired to their quarters to rest. Mirabella bid goodnight to everyone and retired to her chamber with Pipo on her shoulder.
The butler, Heron, greeted them, and the king ordered him to carry sleeping Kael, who had fallen asleep in the middle of their stroll, back to his room. If not for Jax and Pax, the little black crow might have slipped from the camel and planted himself in the sand like a cactus.
Once everyone made sure Mirabella had gone far away, Gideon turned around to meet the king, who was hanging back. He knew the purpose and approached him with the crew.
"My majesty," the crew bowed in unison.
Eros acknowledged their greeting. "I hope Silas elaborated on the situation in Sandspear. There was another victim," he said solemnly.
Gideon nodded. "I did, my majesty. We are planning to bring forward our journey to Sandspear."
Eros raised his brows. "Are you sure?"
