Emma rose and made her way back to the kitchen, chattering as she removed the bacon from the pan.
"I've got some news! I've arranged the wedding photographer and prepared the invitations!"
She turned towards the table and inquired, "How do you find the coffee today?"
"It's delicious, as always."
"You're just trying to sweet-talk me to get what you want."
The injury on Emma's neck was still healing, covered by bandages, but her eyes sparkled with affection.
