I peered out the window, noticing the trees' branches moving softly in the breeze.

Rising to my feet, I made my way to the door and found Alex seated in the main room.

His expression was downcast, as though something had troubled him.

"Alex, I need you to take me back. I've got things to attend to."

He raised his eyes to meet mine. "Why didn't you inform me about something this significant?"

"We're no match for him."

I bit my lip. "I'm already knee-deep in this mess; there's no need to involve you too."

After all, we were dealing with Nathan Wilson. His MG Group had launched on the stock market successfully in just half a year.

"Emma!"

Alex's face clearly showed his disapproval.

I moved towards the exit.

As I pulled the door open, a chilly gust rushed inside.

Nathan was crouched at the entrance, with Olivia bound and writhing beside him.

She looked terrible, her body covered in bruises, evidently having endured severe mistreatment.

"You've come around?"
