We spent a little more time in the boutique, with Adrian trying on a few more outfits and me sharing stories of the journey I'd taken to get to this point. It felt so much lighter than the heavy tension that had followed us for months. But as the conversation shifted, I knew there were still a lot of unanswered questions between us. Adrian had been through a lot, and so had I. There were things I still hadn't told him, and I knew it was time to finally face those truths.
"Listen, I'll talk to Sam," I said, breaking the silence as I grabbed my phone from the counter. "He's got connections. He can help you find a job, get you back on your feet. Any kind of work you want to do"
Adrian's eyes softened with gratitude, but then a familiar wariness clouded his gaze. "Sam... I've never really trusted him, you know? But I have been noticing you are been happy around him"
