The early morning air was cool and still as Seo-Jin and his team gathered in the safe house. Despite the calm atmosphere, the tension in the room was palpable. Today, they were infiltrating one of the Iron Fist's key locations, and the risks were higher than ever.
"Everyone ready?" Seo-Jin asked, his voice firm, though his eyes betrayed a trace of unease.
Tae-Hoon stood by the door, strapping his blades to his back. "You bet. Let's get this done."
Hae-Rin tightened the straps on her gauntlets, her face a mask of concentration. "We have to be quick. In and out, no distractions."
Jin-Soo tapped away at his laptop, finalizing the surveillance feeds and hacking into nearby cameras. "I'll be guiding you from here. The factory's security system is on a separate network, but I've mapped out a few weak points we can exploit."
Seo-Jin nodded, feeling the weight of leadership on his shoulders. Every mission carried risks, but this one felt different. With Jae-Min's reappearance and the Iron Fist's growing strength, something ominous was in the air. This wasn't just another operation; it was a step deeper into the shadows of a far-reaching conspiracy.
As they made their way through the dimly lit streets toward the abandoned factory, the city loomed large around them, its towering structures casting long, dark shadows across their path. The team moved in silence, their footsteps barely audible against the cracked pavement.
The factory itself sat on the edge of the city, a massive, rusting structure surrounded by barbed wire and patrolling guards. From the outside, it looked like nothing more than an old, forgotten building. But Seo-Jin knew better—this place was hiding something important.
"We're in position," Seo-Jin whispered into his comm.
"Copy that," Jin-Soo's voice crackled in their earpieces. "I've disabled the cameras on the south side. You've got a small window to get in before the system reboots."
Seo-Jin signaled to the others. "Let's move."
They crept through the perimeter, sticking to the shadows as they approached the fence. Tae-Hoon was the first to scale it, his movements swift and practiced. Seo-Jin followed, his senses heightened as he scanned the area for any sign of trouble. Hae-Rin came last, her agile form slipping through the fence with ease.
Once inside, they ducked behind a stack of old shipping crates, waiting for the next patrol to pass. The guards were well-armed, and their movements were methodical. The Iron Fist wasn't taking any chances.
"Patrol clear," Jin-Soo reported. "You've got a straight path to the entrance."
The team moved swiftly across the yard, reaching the heavy steel doors of the factory. Seo-Jin placed his hand on the door, feeling the cold metal beneath his palm. This was it.
With a soft click, the door opened, and they slipped inside, disappearing into the shadows.
The interior of the factory was dark and eerily quiet, the only sound coming from the faint hum of machinery deep within the building. The place smelled of oil and decay, a reminder of its industrial past. Now, it served a far more sinister purpose.
"Keep low," Seo-Jin whispered, motioning for the others to stay close as they navigated the narrow corridors.
Jin-Soo's voice came through the comms again. "You're looking for the central lab. It's in the lower levels, heavily guarded. But there's a ventilation shaft in the northeast corner that should lead you straight there."
The team found the shaft without incident, though the tension never left their bodies. Hae-Rin was the first to crawl inside, followed by Tae-Hoon and then Seo-Jin. The metal walls of the shaft were cold and cramped, every sound amplified in the enclosed space.
"Why does it always have to be vents?" Tae-Hoon muttered, his voice barely audible.
Seo-Jin gave a small smile despite the circumstances. "You'll live."
After several minutes of crawling through the tight passage, they reached the lower levels. Seo-Jin pushed open the grate, peering down into the lab below. His heart raced as he took in the scene. The lab was massive, filled with strange equipment and glowing tubes of liquid. Scientists in white coats moved about, working with silent precision.
But it wasn't the lab or the scientists that caught Seo-Jin's attention—it was what lay at the center of the room.
A massive tank of dark, swirling energy sat at the heart of the lab, connected to a series of wires and machines. Inside the tank, a humanoid figure floated, its body encased in the ominous black mist that Seo-Jin recognized all too well.
"Jae-Min," he whispered, his eyes narrowing in recognition.
Hae-Rin's eyes widened as she saw it too. "What… what is that thing?"
Jin-Soo's voice came through, sounding tense. "That's it. That's the experiment. They're using people as vessels for some kind of energy."
Seo-Jin clenched his fists, anger boiling inside him. "This is what they did to him…"
Tae-Hoon's face darkened. "We need to destroy this place."
"We can't yet," Seo-Jin replied, forcing himself to stay calm. "We need evidence first. If we can expose this, we'll bring down the Iron Fist."
"How do we get close without alerting the guards?" Hae-Rin asked, her eyes scanning the room below.
Seo-Jin thought for a moment, his mind racing. "We need a distraction. Something big enough to draw the guards away from the lab."
"I can cause a blackout," Jin-Soo offered. "It'll only last a few minutes, but it should be enough to create some chaos."
"Do it," Seo-Jin said.
A few seconds later, the lights in the factory flickered before plunging the entire building into darkness. Alarms blared, and the guards shouted in confusion as the scientists scrambled to regain control of the situation.
"Now!" Seo-Jin hissed, jumping down from the vent. Hae-Rin and Tae-Hoon followed, moving quickly through the shadows toward the central tank.
As they reached the massive container of swirling energy, Seo-Jin's gaze locked on Jae-Min's figure inside. His face was obscured by the dark mist, but there was no mistaking the cold, lifeless expression.
Suddenly, the tank began to hum with power, and the dark energy inside it surged.
"Something's wrong," Tae-Hoon muttered, backing away.
Before Seo-Jin could react, the tank burst open, sending waves of dark energy crashing through the lab. The force knocked them all off their feet as the figure inside—Jae-Min—emerged, his eyes glowing with raw, uncontrollable power.
"Run!" Seo-Jin shouted as Jae-Min's form hovered above them, his body pulsing with the energy of a living weapon.
They had unleashed something far more dangerous than they had anticipated.
