Gwen watched from the stands, her arms crossed as Gladion once again decimated his opponent. It was his quarterfinal match, and, as expected, he hadn't lost a single Pokémon.
His Machamp, Guy, had taken down four of his opponent's team members single-handedly, tossing them around like ragdolls before he finally recalled it. Although to the disappointment of Guy who looked ready to go through the entire of his opponent's team.
'Well, Judging from how Guy is, I am pretty sure that he would have done it so.i am glad that Gladion recalled him. It would be a solid mental hit to his opponent if his entire team was defeated by just one Pokemon. Not that it made the defeat any less humiliating.' Gwen thought
Then, in an almost dramatic move, he sent out Mystique, his Milotic.
"Oh, of course, he would do that," Gwen muttered, rolling her eyes. "He just had to show off his elegant water noodle to the crowd."
Milotic wasn't just powerful; she was a vision. Every move she executed had the audience gasping, her Water Pulse rippling through the battlefield like liquid art. And Gladion knew exactly what he was doing. The crowd ate it up, and even Gwen had to admit, it was a spectacle.
"Ugh, he's making me look bad," she grumbled. She had lost three Pokémon in her quarterfinal match. Sure, Ambipom, Vaporeon, and her second Haunter had fought well, but they went down. Granted, her strongest two Pokemon did not get more than a scratch—Gengar and Venusaur—but still.
"Guy is a lot stronger than any fighting type Pokemon that I have seen seen with a trainer our age by miles. I am going to have to get his training secrets after I beat him." Gwen mumbled before looking at the list of her brothers Pokémon that she has seen or knows about.
"Guy would be a threat but with my Ghost Pokémons, he can be managed. Nyx would be difficult though because of her dark typing. I would have rely on Vapareon and Ambipom to take her out before she does much damage. His Blastoise would be fighting my Venasaur. With the type advantage, I think that I have that match-up in the bucket. Now that leaves three more Pokémon that I know about."
"He has a Electabuzz and a Magmar. I can't believe that he would have mom and her team help train his then Magby. That's practically cheating. Ughh...I would have to let Gengy deal with them. And with him and my secret weapon, I would have to deal with Collosus. Let's just hope that he has not evolved into Tyranitar yet or I would be in a pinch. But I am going to win this anyways...."
Gwen smirked.
"He's in for a surprise, though. Let's see how he handles this." Gwen decided she was going to swap her second Haunter for one of her two secret weapons. Gladion wouldn't see it coming.
Her Gengar popped out of its Poké Ball, floating beside her, grinning widely. "Gen-gen!"
Gwen cackled. "Oh, he's gonna regret underestimating me!"
Gengar cackled with her, their laughter echoing ominously in the stands, sending shivers down nearby spectators' spines.
She then thought back to Lady Agatha. "I have to thank Lady Agatha for helping me with these Pokémon," she mused. If anyone had heard the sheer reverence in her voice when saying Agatha's name, they might have been deeply disturbed.
Because Lady Agatha was known for being terrifying and creepy throughout the Indigo region.
Gwen still remembered the time she casually mentioned wanting to train ghost types to the Elite Four member. The next thing she knew, she was in a haunted house, surrounded by Haunters, Gastlys, and a very, very, very smug Gengar. Lady Agatha had been nothing but delighted, and Gwen swore she saw the old woman floating at some point.
"Ah, the memories," Gwen sighed happily.
Her Gengar looked at her, suddenly feeling a little creeped out. "Gen?" [Are you okay?]
She shook her head and focused on another concern. Vaporeon. She had received an Eevee at the same time Gladion got his, but somehow, his Umbreon felt leagues ahead of her Vaporeon. She hadn't even seen Nyx fight, but the way it moved, the way it carried itself... there was something dangerous there.
"That stupid brother of mine really knows how to train," Gwen admitted begrudgingly. Dark-types were a direct threat to her ghost team. If she wasn't careful, Nyx could be the end of her run in this tournament.
Still, that made things even more fun.
"Heh... this is going to be great." Her grin widened, her cackle growing louder as her Gengar joined her. Their laughter sent yet another shiver down the audience's backs.

Meanwhile, Sabrina stood in the empty hallway leading to the battlefield, watching the screen as Gladion's match wrapped up.
She sighed. "Of course he won without losing a Pokémon again."
She had known Gladion for some time now, and she knew just how much effort he put into training his team. He didn't just push them to get stronger; he made sure they built a solid foundation.
And that was a problem for her.
"My team... they're strong, but they aren't as powerful as his," she admitted to herself. "If I want to win, I'll have to rely on tricks."
That realization disappointed her. She had always believed in a fair fight, a match of pure skill and power. She believed that she already had a lot of power until she and her Pokémon met Gladion. But against Gladion, she didn't stand a chance unless she bent the rules a little.
"But... why am I excited about this?" She placed a hand on her chest, feeling a strange fluttering sensation. "Is this... what emotions feel like?"
She had spent so much of her life suppressing emotions, believing them to be a weakness. But ever since her journey with Gladion, she had begun to understand.
"It feels... good. Fulfilling." A small smile tugged at her lips.
She exhaled and then smirked. "Of course, it just had to be Gladion who did this to me." She rolled her eyes. "That idiot probably doesn't even realize it."
She turned her gaze back to the screen, watching as the tournament staff prepared for the next match. Her match. The quaterfinals and after winning it she would have to face Gladion in the semi-finals.
"I'm going to defeat you, Gladion," she whispered. "Even if I have to trick you to do it."
With a newfound determination, she walked toward the battlefield, ready to fight her way to the semi-finals.
