Kaelmar crouched beside Zhang Wei's body, his frost Qi seeping into the charred remains of the battlefield as he searched for traces of Qi.
The snow around the body was stained with blood, but no residual flames lingered.
Kaelrin knelt beside him, his sharp silver eyes scanning the area for anything out of place. "He mentioned traitors," Kaelrin murmured, his voice low. "And he seemed to know something about Verion's disappearance."
Kaelissa stood nearby, her frosty aura still crackling faintly. "He was stalling," she said quietly, her gaze distant. "Maybe Zhang Wei wasn't here to kill us. He was buying time."
Kaelrin frowned, his hand tightening on the hilt of his sword. "Buying time for what?"
Kaelmar's sharp gaze flicked upward, scanning the jagged peaks. "Maybe to cover someone else," he said, his tone measured. "If Verion's alive, they might have already moved him."
