Avery was relaxing at home watching television, with snacks in her lap and her feet on the coffee table. She was ready to take a weekend-long break when her phone suddenly rang. She wasn't happy about the interruption, but on the off-chance it was her girlfriend, she picked it up anyway.
"Hello?" She questions.
"Heeeey, I was wondering if you wanted to come over tonight." After hearing the grating voice on the other end, she almost threw her phone down. She had no idea how the bastard found her phone number but she wasn't planning on entertaining him.
"You are going to tell me how you got this number, and then we will never see or talk to each other again." She demands.
"I'll tell you how I got the number if you come over tonight, I have a proposition you might like." She can hear the smirk in his voice.
"...Fucking fine, where do you live?" She asks. He gives her the address and she writes it down, it looks a little familiar but she doesn't think much of it and tries to spend the rest of the day relaxing. When she rings the doorbell she finally realizes why the house is so familiar, when the door opens she finds the grinning face of the bastard and in the background is her girlfriend.
"Eh, Avery!? Wait you know this guy!" Liz pushes to the front of the door, smacking the bastard out of the way.
"Mm, we met the other night." Avery quietly acknowledges.
"Eh, no way, is this your girlfriend!?" The bastard exclaims.
"...Yes." Liz sighs.
"And what is this guy's relation to you?" Avery questions Liz.
"He's my roommate and best friend, I didn't want to introduce you two yet because he gets a little…" Liz subtly twists her finger next to her head.
"If I had known you were Liz's girlfriend I would've acted way differently." The bastard pouts.
"Different how?" Avery asks.
"Well, I would've started with twenty questions on your personality, and then I would've grilled you on what you know about Liz-" He looks like he's about to keep going, but Liz pushes him inside and then opens the door wider for Avery to step in.
"Right, well you can come inside, Belle must've called you here for a reason as we have quite the party going on." Avery steps in and finds the house has a few people already inside. There was the guy from the other night, she remembered his name was Leslie. There's also a young kid sitting on the floor and a female ghost flying around Leslie as he tries to grab her.
"What is wrong with this guy." Avery sighs, she leans in to hug Liz from the back, putting her chin on Liz's shoulder.
"Don't ask me, I've known him for years and I can't figure it out myself." Liz chuckles, patting Avery's head.
"Well, now that everyone is here, time to reveal what we'll be doing." Belle proclaims. Once he's sure that everyone's attention is on him he pulls something out from behind his back with a smirk, raising it up above everyone's heads.
"...Is that a Ouija board?" Avery exclaims.
"Yup!" Belle smiles.
"You already have one ghost in your house and want to summon more?" She questions.
"Uh-huh." He confirms. Avery slaps a hand over her forehead and turns a pitying glance toward Liz.
"Tell me about it." Liz mumbles.
"Do those things really work?" Leslie has gotten up from his spot on the floor to poke at the Ouija board.
"I think so, it will allow us to speak to the ghosts that can't be seen," Belle explains.
"Cool!" The kid on the floor shouts.
"I could hardly call that impressive." The female ghost huffs.
"Oh, speaking of, I should introduce our new guest to those who don't know her: Luna, Lou. This is Avery." Belle suddenly points at the kid and the female ghost and then back at Avery. She waves her hand as an introduction, and they wave back.
"Let's get started." He then moves over to turn off all the lights, the curtains have all been shut leaving the house completely dark until he lights up a few flashlights and hands them around.
"Dramatic much?" Liz teases.
"Proper lighting makes everything better." He responds. Belle then sets up the Ouija board and everyone gathers around it, placing their hands on the planchette.
"Right, let's start with the first question, is anyone here?" He asks. Everyone waits with bated breath for the planchette to move, a minute passes by, then two, and finally, at the third minute it moves ever so slowly up to Yes.
"Woah, it's really moving." Lou inhales.
"Does anyone else want to ask a question?" Belle questions.
"I'll go, how old are you?" Liz asks the board. They wait a bit again before the planchette moves to the numbers 2 and 3.
"Pretty young then." Belle murmurs.
"How did you die?" Avery asks. The planchette moves almost immediately, it takes a bit to spell everything out but they eventually get the full answer.
"Tripped? You tripped and died?" Leslie questions. The planchette moves to Yes.
"Ah, what a lame way to go," Avery mutters.
"Hey, don't be rude to ghosts." Belle chides.
"Yeah, I'm right here," Luna smirks.
"I can and will fucking exorcize you right here." Avery threatens.
"Hmph, you can try." Luna taunts. Avery is only a second away from launching herself at the ghost, but Liz puts a reassuring hand on her shoulder and she backs down with a scowl.
"I do agree to some extent though, tripping to death is quite humorous." Luna laughs, whatever ghost is on the other side doesn't seem to like the teasing as the planchette starts to vibrate.
"Uhm, that can't be good." Leslie squeaks. The planchette starts to move around the board like crazy, going in circles and drawing figure eights all over the board, after the third time the planchette violently rips itself out of their hands and starts spinning midair. With a burst of light, the planchette falls to the ground and a young male ghost with a bloody head appears in the middle of the room.
"Alright! I've had enough of you idiots making fun of me!" He shouts. Only once the male ghost gets a good look around the room does he realize he might've messed up, as most of their faces look disinterested and a few are even grinning like madmen.
