Amir's gaze turned cold. "Julian, human lives are pathetic. If you study any path of development or advancement, you'll notice that it is always paved with hatred, jealousy, greed, and envy. These traits know no bloodline, no love, and no society. If we had opened ourselves up to the outside world and welcomed advancement, do you think we could have fulfilled the task we were given?"
He paused, his hands clenching into fists. "No," he answered himself.
"We would have killed each other, destroyed each other, until there was no one left alive. So, we stay isolated. We eat like animals, dress like animals, and I would even go as far as to say that we are animals."
Julian could feel the deep conviction behind Amir's words. It wasn't just empty words but was a belief the tribe had followed for ages.
"But have you not faced any issues from outsiders or mages?" Julian asked.
