As the the day's last light faded and darkness fell upon the land, the fighting also stopped for a while.
The crescent moon was shining over the head but was not emitting light enough to lit up the Earth.
The commander of the Grossdeutschland regiment knew that advancing through the narrow streets in the darkness is just hugging the God of death.
The regiment had already suffered many casualties, mostly due to the sudden attacks from the roofs.
There were no fatalities however, and the wounded were evacuated by the sanitaters safely.
Though many sanitaters were wounded as well.
Weilding asked for permission to bring up the household guards to destroy the enemy inside the city completely.
When a messenger brought this message to Theodore, he immediately agreed.
"As long as the city is safe, the palace would naturally remain safe as well." He thought.
Weilding planned for a night attack to dislodge the GD regiment which now firmly held the the almost 1/4th of the city.
But his soldiers were tired after the effect of the drugs wore down and many were already dead.
So he allowed them to rest for a few hours and changed the plan to mount the attack little before dawn.
On the Wehrmacht side, the GD regiment had cleared the portion they no hold from any enemy presence.
The colonel had ordered for the troops to stop and to remain static for the night.
Torches were burned and machine guns were set making a perimeter surrounding the occupied and non occupied zones of the city.
Torches were to lit and campfires were burned to lighten up the now dark city on both sides.
On the other side of the city, the Brandenburg regiment prepared for their assault.
Two panzerjagers blew up the wooden gate with panzerfausts. After which the troops rushed into the city.
This action went unnoticed as Weilding had previously removed all the troops from other sides of the wall.
Erika was also amongst the first wave of soldiers who entered the city from this side. Bauer also followed her.
They advanced unopposed through the narrow streets of the dark city.
The regiment encountered first resistance when they reached outside the palace.
Though the number of household guards are reduced, there were still quite a few of them.
However, the assault had to be made and the palace had to be captured. There was no other way around.
Erika ordered the MGs to be set up before taking anymore action.
The machine gunners rushed to the position. They set up the tripod stand and fixed the MGs they were carrying, on them.
Their loaders put down the barrels beside them and loaded a belt each on the guns.
Once three posts were set up serially, she ordered the panzerjagers to blow up the gate in front of them.
Again two panzerfausts were fired simultaneously which blew up the huge stone gate turning it into a heap of rubble.
Some of stones rolled down the slope of the hill while other lay still in their position.
Hearing the noise, remaining guards rushed to the scene. Some were on the wall and some on the ground.
Machine guns rattled and all those who tried to attack whether from the broken gate or from the wall lay dead.
Theodore was sleeping peacefully in his huge room at this time. He was certain that Weilding was under control of the situation.
It was in that moment, the noise forced him to wake up.
Furious of being disturbed in his sleep, he screamed.
"What the hell is happening here?"
Two maids rushed into the room. These were the palace maids that were supposed to take care of the prince.
"We don't know your highness but it seems to be coming from the front gate." They said slightly bowing their heads.
Before Theodore could say anything, a guard in shiny golden armour entered the room.
"Your highness, the enemy has broken through the front gate and taken out the guards. You must leave now." He said bowing his head.
"That's impossible. What nonsense are you sprouting?!" Theodore screamed.
He just received report from Weilding how things were going well for the kingdom and that by morning he would route the enemy from the city.
"I will check things myself." He said as he reluctantly got out of his comfortable bed.
The maids helped him to get changed as the guard waited outside. After changing he went towards the gate.
Outside, after clearing the gate of the remaining guards, Erika and the whole Brandenburg regiment swarmed into the palace.
They divided themselves into various smaller groups. They moved towards the guard barracks, the academy downhill and the dungeon.
One platoon followed Erika along with Bauer into the main building of the palace.
Erika and her men were surprised by the lack of resistance in the palace. She believed that Theodore has concentrated most of the guards inside.
However, that didn't happen either. Once she and the platoon behind her, entered the palace hall, they didn't find any guards.
Blowing the gate open, she could only see the palace servants who were terrified.
As Erika and her platoon covered from the hall to the corridors, the terrified servants and maids ran away.
Some fell on their knees and begged for mercy. Erika ignored them.
It didn't take her long to meet the most familiar person face to face.
The same tall, blonde and handsome person from the game.
He was still wearing the same uniform from the game's cover as well.
The same white tunic and trousers, the black boot and cape, not to mention all those shiny medals of various shapes.
Erika always wondered how he received so many that would put even Goering to shame.
Theodore when heard all the commotion coming from the main hall of the palace had rushed to place.
He couldn't believe that the enemy had broken into the castle and would be in front of him face to face.
The very familiar girl in weird clothes behind whom stood soldiers.
"One, two, three... more than thirty," Theodore counted in his mind.
As the guard tried to cover for him, he tried to runaway.
However, Erika brought out her P38 and shot the guard. The distinct sound of the gun echoed through the place.
Theodore was frozen stiff in his place and remembered the last time he heard the same sound.
"Don't try to do anything funny my dear." Erika said mockingly.
Though Theodore had claimed to break off their engagement in public during the ball, it wasn't made official yet.
As a result they were still bound by the contract they reluctantly signed years ago.
Theodore was still having trauma from the sound as he turned around to face his fiance once again.
His face turned pale as he tremble. Chilling drops sweat ran down his entire body.
Only this time the situation is reversed. Unlike last time when the prince held power and Erika had to escape.
This time Erika was in power and there was no way for the prince to escape.
The two maids though were afraid and seeing the armoured guard fall down, ran away very fast.
"Two hold my dear fiancée others find the king and queen, they must be in their room upstairs." Erika ordered to her soldiers.
Before Theodore could understand anything, the soldiers behind him rushed upwards while two held him tightly.
"Now that the greetings are done my dear, why don't you tell your knights to give up their arms." Erika said slightly smiling at him.
To the terrified prince, she looked like a vixen who he was unable to discard.
Gritting his teeth, Theodore called for a servant.
However, everyone was terrified and none of the servants came.
He screamed again calling for a servant. And this time one came.
It was his butler. He came slowly, afraid what might happen to the prince or himself none obeyed.
"Grr... go to Weilding and tell him to give up the resistance." Theodore said angrily.
"As you wish your highness." The man obeyed.
When Weilding heard that the prince was captured and he was to give up the resistance, he was furious.
He held the butler by his collars and shook him.
"Are you kidding me?!" He said with a face red in anger.
"The enemy is still contained in the small part of the outer city. How can they hold his highness hostage?!" He screamed.
Throwing the butler back, he rushed to the palace to check things out for himself.
But alas, he was soon captured by the soldiers of the Brandenburg regiment that were now in control of the palace.
He was both shocked and surprised when he was brought inside to see that Erika was now in control of the palace and prince Theodore was under arrest.
He was burning with rage and wanted to attack Erika but was held tightly by the soldiers.
"You, you witch, you killed my father!" He said. His eyes burning in rage and face red in anger.
"Oh, sorry for your loss. But this is war lord Weilding." Erika said emotionlessly.
"Countless innocent soldiers have already died in this pointless conflict you started. If your plans succeeded my family would have been dead instead."
Erika had more sympathy for the soldiers than Weilding and his family. After all they started the conflict.
"And I know that if I hadn't occupied the capital, you would have attacked again and again anyways. So don't cry when you lose." She said, this time more harshly than before.
Two soldiers entered the room at that moment.
"Kommandant, the palace and academy are secure. We have full control now." One of them said.
"Kommandant, we found the king and queen but it seems the king has been poisoned." Other one said.
"That's not good my dear. You cannot poison your own father." Erika said, again mocking Theodore.
"Anyways have you asked your armies to give up arms?" Erika asked looking at Weilding who remained silent.
"My dear, looks like he doesn't care about your safety at all." She again mocked Theodore.
Theodore screamed to him asking whether his troops have give up or not.
"N-no your highness. I haven't ordered them to give up." Weilding now replied slowly.
"Well, what are you waiting for, go do it now!" Theodore screamed again.
Erika signalled her troops to go with him.
Soon the kingdom's soldiers gave up and were taken as prisoners by Erika's troops.
Before midnight, the entire city was firmly under Erika's control.
The conscripts were released very fast while the knights, city guards and the household guards were brought back to the palace.
They were confined in the palace dungeon.
"Now, my dear, shall we begin your trial." Erika smilingly asked Theodore.
He had already given up to fate and was awaiting for whatever Erika had in store for him.
