Vincent stood dangerously close to Aricia, his breath hurried, uneven. His face was set in hard lines, his eyes dark with an emotion she couldn’t quite decipher—rage, disappointment, something else entirely. The dim light of the cavern cast deep shadows across his face, making him look even more unapproachable.
Aricia had both hands squeezed at her sides, her fingers curled into tight fists. Her body trembled, but she forced herself to remain still. She wouldn’t cower, not before him. And yet, the weight of his words, the ice in his tone, crushed her more than she could bear.
"Not another word from you," he hissed. His voice was quiet, but it carried the force of a blade pressed against her throat.
Aricia flinched but said nothing.
"I don’t intend to spend another day here with you," Vincent continued, his voice unwavering. "And I’ll have you discarded from my Citadel as soon as we get out of this place."
