Resonance

He nudged his nose gently against hers, rubbing it back and forth in a tender gesture. Forgiven. She smiled, warmth spreading through her chest as she pulled him into a tight hug, her heart light once more.

"Come on," she said, pulling away with a grin. "I'll finish making breakfast the old-fashioned way." 

She turned back to the kitchen, taking the still-frozen block of bacon out of the microwave. With a quick tug, she peeled it out of its plastic wrapper, the coldness of the bacon biting against her fingers. She placed the block onto a baking sheet and slid it into the oven, setting the temperature low to let it thaw slowly. 

Turning back to the table, she took a seat, resting her elbows on the surface as she looked over at him. 

"Want to listen to the stereo while we wait for the bacon to thaw out?" she asked with a playful smile.

He looked at her quizzically, his brow furrowing in confusion. She couldn't help but laugh at his puzzled expression.
