The tests of the academy did not test the basic knowledge that the students had. Instead, they simply tested what the students knew about them and how much they could apply what they knew about in various scenarios.

In the colosseum, the test that had taken place today were not limited to fights against beasts. There were many tests that had taken place in a different area where the students had showed off their artistic skills, their cooking skills, their deep understanding of one or more subjects, or something that they wanted themselves.

Fighting a beast was the best option as it ultimately resulted in the most rewarding <A> points, though… these <A> points were not a necessity in the academy.
