The sounds of the rain evokes bliss in some minds, disdain in some other, but there are incidents like mine, that can make you shiver.
Ever since I was little I used to love rain. It always gave me calm and peace, wether I am stressed from work or sad after a fight with a loved one or just done with life, rain always managed to lighten my mood. I have seen people talk about the negatives of rain, even my family members always thought of me as the odd one out for liking rain. For them rain only brings trouble, wet and cold weather and you can't even go out, and I won't argue it. But it never made me like rain any less.
Rain always had a calming effect in it, but it's calmness always came with a ominous underlying feeling. Despite my endless liking for rain, I can't ignore the chills that went through me every time I felt a presence passby me in the downpour. The presence that is invisible to most and ever present to some others like me.
Most people won't and don't believe me, it's understandable. You haven't felt it, but I have. The life of psychic medium is not the most fun one. One moment you can be happily running around in a park, enjoying rain and the other moment you are leaving the park, because you know, there is something out there, watching you. Something you don't want to mess with.
It's the story of one such night, when I was 14. I lived in my three storey family house. Me and my family lived on the second floor and my grandma, aunt and cousins lived on ground floor and the top floor was just a empty terrace. The house had a huge backyard which led to the gate of ground floor, and the second floor had huge roof in which you can take walks on, the roof was a pleasant place by the day, it was a open area which overlooked the backyard and the surrounding shops and houses. And the view and sounds of birds and small animals like squirrels in the backyard was a cherry on the top,it was a great place to unwind and relax at. But that was only by the day, by the night... Let's just say I've had my most paranormal experience on that roof, because I had a wierd habit of taking nightwalks there. Dumb, I know but the beauty of the night there was captivating and I was fan of night, so the horrors of the night often went overlooked by me. Additionally many times the spirits on the roof were not as hostile as the ones inside the house. Well, that's a story for another day. Lets focus on today's story.
There was a door in the living room which led to a balcony and a walkway attached the balcony to the said roof. Well, I am telling you all this because these are some important detail to keep in mind to understand the story.
Now one night, around 9 pm, I was watching TV, it was summertime and the temperature has been around 39-42°C(102.2-107.6 Fahrenheit). So it was pretty hot, and I didn't had air conditioner so I NEEDED rain. It has been hot all day, with no signs of clouds but despite that, it suddenly started raining and I got happy. I loved rain, so I always used to go to the roof if it's raining, just to watch the rain or get wet in it. I mostly did this during the daytime because around 10 pm my dad used to lock the living room door. But since the living room right now was open. I rushed to it.
Right now, my dad is in his room and my mom and brother were in our room, so there was practically nobody to stop me either.... Neither to save me . I opened the door to the balcony and was about to rush to the roof when suddenly, something in me told me to Not go there and just stay in the balcony. My gut feeling mostly was right so I stayed near the door, just in case there was a intruder I can run.
I was enjoying the rain, standing against the doorframe, when suddenly I saw something out of the corner of my eyes, at the end of the walkway. I turned my head to look at it thinking it was just a monkey, but no..... I was soo very wrong. Because there, at the end of the walkway was something, something inhuman, I won't describe it as a man or a woman because it clearly wasn't that. But if I were to describe it's structure, it looked like a small girl, not a baby, but not a adolescent either. Crawling on fours, but just that it wasn't crawling, it sat still, on it's fours. Like a statue, long hair sprawled across it's face and the sillouhete darker than the night itself .
At that very moment, I forgot how to breathe or move. I couldn't scream and my body felt paralyzed. I just stared at that thing and just then the thunder crashed loudly, illuminating the surroundings, and putting some light on that thing's face. I couldn't see much, it's hair were all over it's face, I couldn't figure out how it's face looks, but from what I saw on it's visible part of skin. I was sure that I don't even want to know. Because it looked like a rotting corpse, the sight of the crimson patches of rotten flesh among the patches of dead pale skin made me shudder.
I knew that staying here won't end well, I was even afraid to blink, thinking when I will open my eyes it will be infront of me, the small voice in the back of my mind told me that the thunder will crash again in a few seconds and if I stayed here.... I might never leave . But I felt paralyzed, as If I can't move, how can I leave in this condition ? My feet felt like someone has glued them to the ground. But I knew that I had to run because, nobody is coming to help me. I took a breath and took God's name and raised my leg to run, at first it felt like someone is holding them down and trying to pull them back down, but once I raised them I knew I can run now. I turned and ran, I didn't bother locking the door, I just ran and just as I did, the thunder actually crashed again. I knew I have barely made it. But I didn't stop, I kept running until I was in front of a idol of God. My only salvation from these things. Then only did I dare to breathe. I was shaking like crazy but happy that I made it.
My mom and brother came to me asking why I was running like crazy,I was scared beyond my mind , so I told them what happened, thinking... Hoping they would finally understand. But they didn't, they made fun of me, said that because I watch horror movies I have started hallucinating, even though I haven't watched on in ages. They said it's all just in my head. I knew that convincing them otherwise is impossible, they have made their mind that I am a liar. That I will never tell the truth. So I didn't waste my time convincing them. I just went back to the living room to lock the door to the balcony, even though I was scared, because the last thing I wanted is a scolding from dad for not locking the door. And then, I went back to watch the TV because I knew there was nothing else I can do. Rain kept pouring and night went on,but the memory of that thing remained vivid in my mind....
