The atmosphere in the chamber was heavy with tension, the kind that clung to your skin like an oppressive fog. The Patriarch sat at the head of the table, his expression sharp and unyielding. To his right, Jade lounged, with a feigned ease that didn't fool anyone.

His piercing eyes darted between us, ever the sharp observer. And then there was me, seated opposite, the youngest in the room but no less burdened by the weight of the discussion at hand.

The betrayal of Julius, a trusted ally, had shaken the foundation of our family's trust in those around us. The room seemed colder as Romelis spoke, his voice edged with anger and disappointment.
