Divine Negotiation

"Isn't that a rhetorical question?"

"Please, spare us the chatter, Lord Ayush."

The hammerhead shark and the female angel chimed in with their complaints, but the eight-winged angel pretended not to hear them.

"To put it bluntly, the empire has been severely damaged by an unknown force. We need your help with reconstruction and defense. That's it."

Avik quickly answered the question.

"Oh—what a major mess you've landed in. You call it an 'unknown force,' but there aren't many entities on this planet that could pose a threat to you, are there? Any leads?"

"According to reliable intelligence, there's an eighty to ninety percent chance it's the 'Extraordinary Ones'..."

As soon as Shavone uttered those words, the atmosphere turned tense, and the expressions of the three angels grew noticeably solemn.

"Heh... that does sound like something they'd do."

The eight-winged angel floated in front of Shavone, gently holding her hands.

"Let me see your memories."

In an instant, Shavone's pupils lost their color, and a faint multicolored glow flowed from her forehead into the eight-winged angel's eyes.

"Oh, so that's how it is..."

The eight-winged angel released her hands, and Shavone returned to her normal state.

"Which means...?"

"This is such a hassle. If possible, I'd prefer to just ignore it."

"What!?"

"Lord Ayush!"

The hammerhead shark and the female angel's eyes flared with anger. From their trembling fins and clenched fists, it was clear they were struggling to suppress the urge to lash out.

"…But I won't turn you down."

Despite his somewhat flippant tone, the eight-winged angel appeared quite serious.

He turned away, tilting his head slightly as he responded.

"I'll go meet with Krizz Calderon in person along with that hammerhead shark. The rest of you, follow the woman to the waiting area."
