"Meow!" Fight! Why are you looking at me?
The sudden silence left Fu Lin bewildered. He glanced around, then meowed in confusion and punched the air, signaling for them to continue fighting.
"Taimei."
"Okaban."
"How about we postpone the match for another day?" X2
Kini Taimei and Nichikawa Okaban looked at Fu Lin with fiery eyes, then exchanged intense glances with each other before shaking hands and making peace.
-----------------------
The ears twitched slightly, listening to the sound of the wind above. Fu Lin's mouth twitched, and with a sidestep, he avoided it, watching the net that brushed past him. His gaze turned wary as he scanned the surrounding crowd.
The young man who had made the move was annoyed when the sneak attack failed. He spat on the ground angrily, then gripped the net tightly again, glaring at Fu Lin with fierce determination.
"Blah blah blah, you can't catch me~" Meow meow meowww
Fu Lin stuck out his tongue at the young man, then dashed into the nearby crowd. With agile movements, he climbed onto the back of a burly man, poked his head out, and continued to provoke the young man.
Feeling provoked by a cat, the young man was immediately furious. He raised the net high and swung it at Fu Lin once more.
The result was predictable — Fu Lin easily dodged it. But the poor stranger took the hit instead, grimacing in pain. However, because of his overly developed muscles, he couldn't even reach the spot that hurt.
"Hiss! You punk, just you wait! After I catch that cat, I'll settle the score with you!" The burly man glared at the young man, then shifted his gaze to another person. He spread his hands into claws and pounced quickly — but ended up missing, pinning the other person underneath him instead.
"Hahaha, you think you can catch me? You're still fifty thousand years too early!" Fu Lin lay on someone else's head, wagging his tail, his eyes full of smugness.
A bald man who looked like a programmer felt the weight on his head. His eyes lit up, and he carefully reached toward the top of his head while chanting, "Little kitty, come to Uncle. Uncle's not a bad guy."
Fu Lin rolled his eyes and quickly leaped onto another person. His claws, which he had forgotten to retract, took a few more precious strands of hair from the bald man.
"Sorry for making your already scarce hair situation even worse." Fu Lin looked at the strands of hair in his paw with disdain and flicked them away. A wave of guilt rose in his heart as he glanced at the man's shiny scalp.
"It's over there! Catch it!"
"It ran onto that person! Hold him down!"
"Wait, it's on me now—ah!"
"Idiot! How is this cat so slippery? Where did it go?!"
Watching Fu Lin's agile movements and the chaotic crowd, Nichikawa Okaban and Kini Taimei exchanged glances. They pushed aside the men blocking their way and joined the hunt for the cat.
With the two of them joining in, the sounds of fighting intensified. Fu Lin slowly emerged from the smoke, glanced at the crowd behind him, and shook his head in boredom.
Then he leaped onto a large tree nearby, his eyes filled with the wisdom of the ages as he gazed down at the crowd. He sighed inwardly, "Ah, young people are so full of energy. Getting this fired up so early in the morning — I should play some music to cheer them on."
Without hesitation, Fu Lin pulled a small speaker out of his system space and turned it on without a second thought. A chilling, eerie melody began to play.
"Hiss… why is it playing horror music?!"
"Next song, next song."
Fu Lin glanced up at the dim sky, then at the withered trees in the distance. He shivered, quickly skipping to the next track.
As the rousing music played in their ears, everyone immediately felt their blood boil, their bodies surging with unstoppable strength. The scene became even more chaotic.
"Taixuan BGM really lives up to its name."
"That guy! What are your legs for? Attack his lower body!"
"And you, poke his eyes! Pick his nose!"
"And that… whatever Taimei guy — how can you sneak attack? I suggest you reconsider your life choices!"
"And you, Nichikawa Okaban — you…"
Fu Lin's lips curled into a mischievous smile as he continued to give instructions. Whether the people below could actually hear him was another matter — and even if they could hear him, they probably wouldn't understand him.
Just as Fu Lin was enjoying the spectacle, the exclusive BGM for this chaotic situation soon came to an end.
As the next song began to play, the crowd slowly stopped fighting. They glanced around in confusion, covering their faces or their groins as cries of pain echoed everywhere.
"Hiss! My handsome face — who the hell did this?!"
"What are you yelling about? You just got punched in the face! Meanwhile, I got kicked in the groin — hiss, ow!"
"Ow…"
"..."
Before long, the crowd, having recovered from the chaos, began pointing fingers at each other, and the scene quickly spiraled into disorder once again. Then, one of the least injured people suddenly realized something and shouted,
"Where's the cat?!"
"Yeah! Where's the cat?!"
"Where did it go?"
"Did it hide somewhere?"
"Pfft! If I'd caught it, I wouldn't have let it slip away!"
"Who played the music?! Turn it off — it's driving me nuts!"
"..."
"The music seems to be coming from that tree."
Everyone followed the direction of the person's finger and walked over in confusion. When they looked up and saw Fu Lin lazily yawning in the tree, they all fell silent.
Just then, a few crows happened to fly overhead.
...
"Oops, I've been spotted. Time to run!"
Seeing the silent crowd staring up at him, Fu Lin lazily stretched, calmly turned off the speaker, and then bolted away in a flash.
"It seems… the cat ran off…"
