Chapter 7: The Debauched Wild Ghost

Being called "kid" by a girl who wasn't much older than him was already irritating.

To be honest, Lin Feng never thought of himself as "small," in any way.

And the girl's tone was almost like a command, which instinctively made him resist.

"Why should I give you my phone number?"

"May 9th! The Opposite Dragon Head! The toughest fate, with the hand that brings mourning! You don't have to give it to me, but be careful that misfortune doesn't strike those around you. Don't say I didn't warn you. This is my number; if anything happens to you, you can come find me."

Lin Feng frowned and said, "Who's bringing mourning? My parents are alive and well—who are you cursing? Stop right there and explain yourself!"

The ponytailed girl looked at Lin Feng like he was an idiot, shrugged her shoulders, and walked away.

"Damn! Psycho…" Lin Feng muttered, studying the card she handed him.

It was a wooden business card, much more high-end than the flimsy paper one he'd gotten from Director Wang. The text was sparse, but the layout was elegant and minimalist, clearly designed with care.

"Seven Stars Temple, Nie Chuxia? That's it?"

No title, no address, just a phone number in traditional Chinese characters and an image of a temple. People don't usually go for this kind of minimalist style these days.

"Brother Feng! What are you doing?"

After the ponytailed girl left, a translucent figure with the head of a bull and the body of a man slowly materialized in front of Lin Feng, interrupting his thoughts.

Seeing Niu Meng finally arrive, Lin Feng put away the business card and said, "Nothing much. Let's head up the mountain."

Yuetanshan Park encompasses the whole of Yuetan Mountain, and at night, the trails leading up the mountain are closed. But that doesn't stop modern young men and women. Known as the largest outdoor rendezvous spot in Nanyang City, some even call it the "Lover Sacred Land of Yuetan Mountain."

The stone paths were well-paved, easy to walk on. Climbing over the closed barrier, they could hear various panting sounds along the way. Who knows how many couples had come here to release their primal urges since the park opened.

Niu Meng followed Lin Feng and muttered, "This mountain is yin-rich, resembling burial mounds, harboring spirits, flowing rivers like hidden dragons, a place of yin triad moon alignment. Anyone brave enough to come here at night to hook up isn't afraid of running into ghosts."

Lin Feng replied, "If they run into ghosts, that's their problem. We're here tonight to find a ghost."

In Task 2 of the Blue Missions, it mentioned finding clues about the 11.13 homicide case in Yuetan Mountain. Given that Chen Qi's death was two years ago, Lin Feng figured the clue should definitely be ghost-related if it came from the Fierce Ghost Containment System.

There were about seven couples on the mountain enjoying earthly pleasures. Niu Meng circled the mountain but found no signs of ghosts.

"Brother Feng, what do we do next?" Niu Meng asked.

Lin Feng found a bench halfway up the mountain and lay down comfortably. "We wait. If we don't find anything tonight, we'll try again for a few more days. You said this place attracts ghosts; one is bound to appear sooner or later."

"Just wait around?"

"Unless you have a better idea?"

Niu Meng thought about it and realized he didn't.

Lin Feng and Niu Meng waited from just past midnight until three in the morning. Lin Feng grew tired, hungry, and started yawning.

"Brother Feng, there's only one couple left. Are we still waiting?"

Niu Meng was also growing impatient and hungry, as he hadn't eaten all day.

Lin Feng began to wonder. Three hours? This last couple had been at it for a while now.

"Let me take a look!"

Lin Feng drew a line on his forehead, activating the Heavenly Eye, revealing the final couple in all their glory.

He noticed that the woman was fairly attractive—worth a look, he supposed.

Although Lin Feng didn't normally spy on others, given the circumstances, he wasn't going to let this show go to waste.

On a mountainside bench in Yuetanshan Park, a flushed woman lay sprawled on a pile of clothes, the man on top of her moving in rhythm.

The primal setting and primal actions had clearly ignited their primal desires.

"Oh, honey, you're amazing! Go faster!" The woman screamed, urging the man on. The man, appearing to be at least a decade older, was likely fueled by some kind of supplement.

"You little minx, if I go any faster, you won't be able to walk tomorrow!" The man, around fifty, was thrilled, muttering all kinds of crude language. But after a while, he stopped suddenly.

"Oh, don't stop!" The woman squirmed impatiently.

The man ignored her complaints, looked around, and saw nothing but trees.

"I felt like someone was watching us," he murmured, as a chill crept over them with the evening breeze.

"Let's go get a room by the park."

The man suggested.

The woman protested, "We can't leave! I'm almost there!"

The man, encouraged by her insistence, resumed with a sly grin. "Fine, fine, let's finish right here."

Before long, both reached their climax, the man sitting back to catch his breath, admiring the woman's form.

The man's name was Huang Chaoxian, a manager of an advertising firm, and the woman was a fresh-out-of-college assistant manager named Ning Yan. Her qualifications weren't exceptional, but she quickly used her charm and a few tricks to edge out her competition and win over her boss.

Today, the two had taken advantage of a business trip to have a private rendezvous.

Ning Yan, in a relaxed state, sat up and gazed at Huang Chaoxian with a dreamy look, preparing to dress.

But Huang Chaoxian stopped her with a lecherous grin and said, "Baby, if you walk down the mountain naked with me, I'll deposit twenty thousand in your account tomorrow."

Hearing this strange request made Ning Yan uncomfortable, but the twenty thousand enticed her.

"Pervert! Don't go back on your word!"

Ning Yan gave Huang Chaoxian a sidelong glance, grabbed her clothes, and stood up, walking down the mountain completely naked.

Lin Feng retracted his Heaven's Eye skill, sighing inwardly: "These days, successful people really know how to enjoy life with a certain flair. Such peculiar preferences—I can't compare."

"Feng, did you see anything strange?"

Lin Feng replied with a straight face, "Nope."

Niu Meng nodded. "That couple is still at it—they're really something."

"Huh?" Lin Feng looked at him in surprise. "They're done, aren't they? They're coming over here now."

Niu Meng said in a muffled voice, "Feng, are you joking? Their auras are still in the same spot!"

Lin Feng looked up. Under the streetlamp not far away, a middle-aged man and a young, naked woman were walking toward them.

Niu Meng froze, and so did Lin Feng. Under the streetlight, the man and woman had no shadows, and their faces were tinged with an unnatural, deathly blue.

"Sh*t! We've run into ghosts! And they're wild ghosts at that. Let's hide!"

Seeing that the two hadn't noticed him yet, Lin Feng hurriedly crawled under the bench.

The Ghost Containment System had a clear classification for ghosts.

Levels 1-9 were wandering spirits: weak, afraid of light, mostly attached to corpses or lurking in dark places.Levels 10-19 were wild ghosts: able to wander freely, unafraid of light, with some offensive capabilities, including spells, though they feared things with high yang energy.Levels 20-29 were malevolent ghosts: able to absorb and cultivate yin energy, and they could also consume yang energy.Levels 30-39 were evil ghosts: capable of appearing during the day, extremely temperamental and ferocious.Levels 40-49 were ghost generals: skilled in powerful spells. Those who were extraordinarily strong or extremely murderous in life might become ghost generals upon death.Levels 50-59 were ghost kings: protected by yin dragons, with advanced spells. People who had held high positions in life and were buried in dragon veins could become ghost kings upon death.

A ghost king's strength could rival that of the ten Yama Kings of the underworld. In history, only two figures had officially been recognized as ghost kings: Mount Mang's Ghost King Cao Cao and Martial Valor Ghost King Ran Min.

Niu Meng and Lin Feng were both Level 9. They could maybe handle one wild ghost, but facing two would likely turn them into sacrificial offerings.

Seeing Lin Feng duck under the bench, Niu Meng also vanished, silently hiding behind a tree.

In the distance, the man and woman walked closer.

"Huang, you promised me twenty thousand—you won't go back on your word, right?"

Ning Yan clung to Huang Chaoxian's arm. Huang chuckled, giving her a playful squeeze. "When have I ever lied to you?"

Overjoyed, Ning Yan pouted. "We're close enough, don't you think? You wouldn't want anyone to see everything, would you?"

They were about two minutes from the foot of the hill. Huang thought it over—if any passersby from a late shift or nightlife spotted Ning Yan, it wouldn't be good. He didn't want too many people prying into his relationship with her.

"Of course. You're mine; I wouldn't want anyone else to see." Huang Chaoxian gave Ning Yan's chest one last squeeze, reluctantly letting go.

Giggling, Ning Yan sat down on the bench Lin Feng had been sitting on and began getting dressed.

Hiding under the bench, Lin Feng could see her pale legs in full view and even glimpsed things he shouldn't have. Thankfully, it was dark enough that she couldn't see under the bench. Lin Feng felt a slight relief.

"Huh? Huang, this bench is warm. Someone's been sitting here just now."

After getting dressed, Ning Yan placed her hand on the seat, feeling the residual warmth.

Lin Feng's heart leaped, cursing inwardly: Damn, how did I forget about that?

Yawning, Huang Chaoxian muttered, "There are plenty of vagrants in Yuetan Mountain Park. It's not surprising someone was here. Let's go. We might even have time for another round in the morning!"

Ning Yan scrunched her nose playfully. "You're terrible!"

Lin Feng, hidden under the bench, watched as Ning Yan fastened her sandal strap. Just as she was about to stand, a head suddenly appeared upside-down in front of him.

The face was pale, with empty eye sockets where the eyeballs had vanished. Long hair trailed on the ground, and this face appeared less than ten centimeters away from Lin Feng's.

In the darkness, Lin Feng stared at Ning Yan; Ning Yan seemed to stare back at him. Lin Feng felt his heart nearly stop.

"Sweetie, what are you looking at?"

Ning Yan straightened up, "Nothing, I just smelled something nice and familiar, but I can't quite recall what it is."

The smell Ning Yan was referring to was, of course, the yang energy of a living person.

Ning Yan stood up, taking Huang Chaoxian's arm, and swayed off with him.

It wasn't until they'd been gone a full minute that Lin Feng finally crawled out from under the bench, gulping for air as he sat back down.

"Thank goodness that female ghost had no eyes! I was almost scared to death!"

Lin Feng patted his chest, reassuring himself.

"No eyes, but you think she can't see you?"

"How could she see me without eyes?" Lin Feng replied, then suddenly realized the voice that had spoken was female.

A cool breeze swept across the back of his neck, sending a chill down his spine.

Lin Feng turned his head slowly and saw, to his left, a female ghost with empty eye sockets staring at him. Her teeth were pitch black, and her skin was deathly pale. The only color on her was the blood flowing from her eye sockets as she smiled at him.

On his other side, a hollow voice of a middle-aged man echoed, "Were you… spying on us just now?"

Huang Chaoxian's pupils shrank to pinpoints, his eyeballs nearly all whites, his smile twisting into a grotesque expression Lin Feng had never seen before.
