As the young trainer spoke, Lian had already unleashed his move—a powerful Fire-type attack known as Fire Blast. He chose this move with the intent to swiftly defeat the Braviary.
This Braviary's level was undoubtedly above 50, and with such high power, even Lian's current defensive capabilities could not withstand more than one Wing Attack without sustaining severe damage upon impact.
Therefore, Lian needed to instantly deliver maximum output to defeat the opponent quickly.
He had practiced Fire Blast countless times within the system space, although he hadn't fully mastered it yet. However, the muscle memory remained intact; what he lacked was sufficient energy.
Having just used a Fire Gem, Lian now possessed enough energy to unleash Fire Blast once. This meant that temporarily, he could execute the move, and although only for a single instance, it would be immensely effective at this critical moment.
The Braviary descended from the sky, but after Lian evaded its strike, the force carried it uncontrollably, causing it to crash directly onto the ground.
Now, the Braviary shook itself, flapping its vibrant red and blue wings, preparing to take flight again.
At this moment, Lian unleashed Fire Blast—a highly potent Fire-type move. Unlike other attacks, Fire Blast is not expelled from the mouth but directly condensed out of fire energy in mid-air. This method has its drawback; it's relatively slow to release, as Charmeleons typically excel at launching moves orally.
Lian consumed nearly 99% of his fire energy, including the boost provided by the Fire Gem, creating an exceptionally massive inferno shaped like the letter 'X'.
The colossal size of the flaming 'X' was naturally due to Steel Fire Mountain's environment, amplifying the power of Fire-type moves significantly. This enhancement greatly increased Fire Blast's potency and affected its appearance.
The fiery 'X' blazed intensely. The key element of Fire Blast lies in the explosion. Under Lian's control, akin to an invisible giant hand, he propelled the blazing shape directly towards Braviary.
With a 30% Energy Control Rating, Lian wasn't joking around. Although barely managing to alter the form of the move, he could still enhance the speed of Fire Blast through his mastery, posing no issue for him.
"Fire Blast?" The young trainer was stunned, wondering if this Charmeleon before him was some kind of impostor. Since when could a Charmeleon unleash such a powerful move like Fire Blast? This transcended mere talent; it seemed downright unbelievable.
Even some Charizards couldn't naturally learn Fire Blast and required a Move Disk to acquire it, let alone a Charmeleon.
However, this only heightened the young trainer's excitement. Here was a Charmeleon capable of mastering Fire Blast—if he could capture it, how incredible would that be?
Just imagining the envy from his friends once they found out about his captured Charmeleon with Fire Blast made him giddy.
As Fire Blast approached Braviary, it appeared that the bird Pokémon was ready to take flight. Despite Lian increasing its speed significantly, hitting Braviary still seemed challenging.
The young trainer observed the massive flaming X advancing and sighed in relief, thinking Braviary should easily evade it by now, having already taken off.
It was evident that even though the Charmeleon had learned Fire Blast at this stage, it lacked proficiency.
However, in the very next moment:
Boom!
The giant flaming "X" exploded with a deafening roar, sending intense heat waves radiating outward as the scorching flames burst instantly.
Although Fire Blast couldn't catch up to Braviary, its damage primarily stemmed from the massive shockwave and high temperatures generated by the explosion.
Lian decided to trigger the immediate detonation of Fire Blast near Braviary. Even if it couldn't directly hit, the resulting powerful shockwave would be unavoidable for Braviary, unless it possessed teleportation abilities.
The force of the exploding flames was astonishing, considering this was a Fire-type move with 110 base power unleashed under Sunny Day conditions.
Unfortunately, Lian hadn't yet switched his Ability to Solar Power; otherwise, with that additional boost, despite the over twenty-level difference between him and Braviary, he could have confidently one-shot it with a combination of moves.
The intense explosion lasted only a moment, but its sheer magnitude left the young trainer startled. He narrowly escaped being affected, realizing how perilous it would have been had he been closer.
How is this possible? It clearly didn't hit!
The young trainer couldn't comprehend why Fire Blast exploded even though Braviary had managed to evade and was about to take flight.
He glanced at the Braviary sent flying by the fiery explosion but wasn't overly concerned.
Lian also knew that one Fire Blast wouldn't defeat Braviary outright. Despite its impressive power, Braviary remained formidable; it couldn't be incapacitated so easily. However, the bird did sustain severe injuries.
"Braviary, quickly attack!" the youth urged, knowing that after Charmeleon executed such a powerful move, there would be a brief cooldown period—a perfect opportunity for his counterattack.
However, just as the youth spoke and Braviary began recovering from the blast, Lian unleashed another move.
This time, it was Dragon Rage. Although he usually practiced combinations of Flamethrower with Dragon Rage, each move individually could still pack a punch.
A fierce shockwave erupted from Lian's mouth. Braviary clearly didn't anticipate, after barely recovering from the flame explosion, to immediately face Dragon Rage.
Lian's move execution was exceptionally swift. Even before Fire Blast struck its target, he had already begun preparing Dragon Rage. If Fire Blast were slightly slower, the shockwaves of Dragon Rage would have overtaken it.
The shockwave directly hit Braviary. Although not defeated by both Fire Blast and Dragon Rage, it sustained significant damage.
With a Stamina base stat of 100, Braviary's Special Defense base stat was only 75.
"The level difference is too great."
Seeing that Braviary remained combat-ready despite the attacks, Lian felt somewhat helpless. This was due to the stark level disparity; Braviary was already over Level 50, while he stood at just Level 28.
However, Braviary couldn't hold on for much longer. One more Flamethrower attack, and it would undoubtedly lose its fighting capability.
Lian couldn't withstand Braviary's attacks for much longer, despite them being primarily Wing Attacks. With Braviary's high attack base stat of 123 and its level advantage, Lian might not hold up.
Even if he managed to endure, it would likely leave him close to losing combat capability. Moreover, the young trainer surely wouldn't have just one Braviary; even if Lian defeated this one, he'd lack the strength to face subsequent Pokemon.
The young trainer was nearly dumbfounded, wondering how a wild Charmeleon could be so incredibly powerful. What sorcery was that? Two moves back-to-back with no pause in between?
Fortunately, after such rapid succession, Charmeleon couldn't immediately unleash another move, presenting the perfect opportunity for Braviary to counterattack.
No reminder was needed from the boy. Despite its severe injuries, Braviary displayed remarkable bravery and resilience, almost fearless in battle. Even wounded, it continued to fight valiantly.
After all, the reason it's called "Braviary" is due to its unwavering courage, never retreating from a challenge, akin to a true hero's spirit.
