"Son, the detective told us some disturbing news."
"What news mother?"
Gina and Raymond looked at each other.
"They found traces of Phencyclidine powder in her fingernail crevices and injection needles in Brooklyn's car. They suspect that she might've drugged herself."
"That's ridiculous." Felix stated, as a matter of fact.
"Right? They're mistaken. Brooklyn would never do that." Gina insisted.
Ring Ring.
"Yes?" Raymond answered the call.
Philip quickly explained to his boss that they had finished interrogating every worker at Crystal art gallery who had contact with Brooklyn. Just like the few workers who cooperated with the interrogation, Zach also confessed that their boss was high as a kite from drugs she took before she adamantly drove off on her own.
"The detective was right." He chuckled coldy, clenching his phone.
"What?" Gina couldn't believe her ears. "No. Brooklyn's not like that."
"Oh she is." Valerie made her appearance. "So, now do you still think I'm the bad guy? Huh?" She asked Felix. Valerie was referring to the earful she got from Felix because she had a doctor forcefully sedate Brooklyn.
"What're you talking about?" Raymond asked.
"My daughter just came back from rehab 5 months ago. She's 5 months sober. Well, was sober since she appears to have drugged herself."
Gina and Raymond scoffed, not believing what Valerie just revealed.
"What? Don't look at me like that. When we finalised this arranged marriage deal, she was perfectly fine and all sober. I don't know what happened." Valerie explained considering the glares she received from Gina and Raymond.
"You knew that your daughter is.. is an addict and yet you tricked us into accepting her into our family?!" Gina was fuming with rage. "How could you do this to us?"
"Oh come on. It's not like she was any trouble."
"Well, send her back to rehab before she brings anymore trouble." Gina said.
"Okay, okay. I'll handle it." Valerie replied.
"No one's going to rehab." Felix's adamant and nonchalant attitude surprised his parents.
"Don't tell me you already knew about this." Raymond wanted to know.
"Get out." Felix's voice reverbated in the hospital ward. "All of you."
"What?" Gina asked, taken aback.
"Brooklyn's my wife now. My responsibility. So whether she goes back to rehab or not isn't your guys' choice to make." He coldly stated.
"I don't care. She has to go back to rehab whether you like it or not. Before news of this gets out. We can't have her ruining our image." Raymond was quick to call whoever on his phone as he exited the hospital ward.
Gina humphed at Valerie in displeasure, not sparing another glance at the unconscious Brooklyn she was fond of a minute ago, as she too exited the hospital ward.
