I thought we were past that

Fortunately for Brooklyn, it was her left arm in a cast. So, unlike Felix, she was able to enjoy her cereal by freely using her right hand. Felix, on the other hand was struggling. The sight was enough to crack Brooklyn up. He ended up going for a cup of coffee.

"You seem to enjoy my suffering."

"You have no idea." She chuckled.

Just then, an angry Gina made her entrance.

"I see the both of you still have it in you to enjoy breakfast when the Internet is going wild."

"Gina. Join us. Please." Brooklyn grinned.

"Son. Why don't you understand? She needs to be sent back to rehab." Gina ignored Brooklyn.

"Exactly what I told him. But he just won't listen to me." Brooklyn got up from her chair, done with her meal. "Maybe you should talk some sense into your son." She pat Gina's shoulder, smirked and made her way to the underground garage.

Gina approached Felix. "Why are you being stubborn over nothing? You and I both know that sending her to rehab is the right thing to do."

"You mean abandoning her like everybody else?"

"You're just gonna be looking out for yourself. What's wrong with that?"

"Mother!"

"What? I didn't say anything wrong. I don't know why you're getting all worked up for nothing."

"You of all people know that we can't do this to her."

"We accepted her into our family despite knowing about..." She didn't finish her sentence. "We can't keep compromising ourselves. This is a rare opportunity to cut ties with that damn family. Felix. Please!"

"Honestly. I don't know why I was expecting anything from you." He got up from his chair. "Like I said, she's not going back to that hellhole. I'll make sure of that." He made his way upstairs.

Gina gritted her teeth in frustration seeing her son being overly stubborn just for that girl. She had no choice but to leave.

Meanwhile, at Hot Coffee.

Lauren just finished placing her order with the waiter when the person she was waiting for sat across from her.

"Aunty, it's so nice to see you again." She excitedly greeted Gina.

Gina chuckled, having missed her enthusiasm. From what she remembered, Gina always found Lauren to be an adorable daughter she never had. That why Gina always doted on her.

"What? You finally remembered me?"

"I'm sorry. It's just that I've been occupied with so many surgeries and what not."

Gina scoffed. "Yeah right."

"Come on. Don't be mad." Lauren gave Gina sad, puppy eyes that always worked their magic on Gina.

Gina chuckled. "Fine. I won't be mad anymore."

"That's more like it."

"Here are your drinks." The waiter placed one iced americano for Lauren and hot black coffee for Gina.

"You remembered what I like."

"Of course. I wouldn't forget it for anything. You know that."

Gina smiled in appreciation. "So, how's it going between you and Ramon?"

Lauren stayed silent.

"I hope you haven't forgotten that you're indebted to me." Gina sipped her coffee.

"I thought we were already past that." Lauren grinned. Gina scoffed.
